Today is not the longest day of the year

I repeat, today is not the longest day of the year. All days of the year are the same length, 24 hours.
However, today is the day with the longest amount of daylight. Starting tomorrow the sun will come up a little later and set a little earlier and the same the next day and the next...but for today, enjoy the day with the longest amount of sunshine.

As a matter of fact the sun will come up a little later only after the 23rd of June, same for the sunset. I am checking the dusk and dawn table at my location, we will lose one minute (both sides)from the 24th to the 26th. By the end of the month we are going to lose 8 minutes in total.

@AbbyGreenhill I do not want to think when it will be dark at 6 PM, I would love to live in a place where the night always comes around 7/7:30 PM. I should approach the Equator line to have always the same number of daylights and nigh time hours.

@LadyDuck But then, near the Equator, it would be really really hot all the time.

@Asylum You're right, never went there nor plan to go there. I won't/don't fly and it's a long swim.

You are right if you mean 24 hour days. But when we oppose day to night it is different.

A day is 24 hours every day. Today is the longest daylight of all 365 days.
