Enjoying a Fine Spring Day at the Start of Summer

I'm not sure what to make of this amazing spring-like weather we've had these last two days here in Florida, but if that's how our summer wants to start out--mild temps with no humidity or thunderstorms, then I'm not going to complain! After going through about a week of scorching temps, followed by days of downpours, it looks like Mother Nature is giving us Floridians a little break! I know it's just the calm before the storm (the summer storm to be exact), but I'll take any day in Florida that is below 90 degrees!
In fact, this evening I'm going to do something I've probably never done before in June in Florida...take a nice evening stroll around the neighborhood! It will be nice to enjoy a beautiful sunset with being scorched, rained on, or drenched with humidity!
Anybody else enjoying beautiful weather like this?

We are clear so far this week and have about 80, which is great for June in Oregon. I hope you see interesting things on your walk.

I saw many interesting things on my walk yesterday! Let's see, there was this one girl in tight shorts jogging, and this other girl in tight shorts walking, oh, and this one girl laying out in her bikini in her front yard! Let's just say I love living in a college town in Florida! lol

@moffittjc But... but, I was talking about interesting birds! I am glad the scenery was rewarding though!

Wow, I never really thought about mosquitoes being up in Canada, but I guess they are everywhere! We've been fortunate here in our city that the mosquitoes haven't been bad at all, which is good news considering all the fears over the Zika virus! We have a very large bat population in our city, and they do a great job of taking care of most of the mosquitoes!

@paigea On the University of Florida campus, which is just a mile or two from where I live, there are these two giant bat houses that university officials built, and they each hold hundreds of thousands of bats. A favorite pastime around here is to go to the bat houses at dusk and watch as all the bats wake up and fly out for their night of mosquito munching. It's quite the sight to see, and it takes about 30 minutes for all those hundreds of thousands of bats to exit the bat houses.

@moffittjc I have seen a bat around here but it is not keeping up. the further north we go the bigger the mosquitoes and the more there are of them!

We've got scorching heat, high humidity, but no rain, which we could use. Now my scorching heat is anything above 75 and it's been in mid to upper 80's the last several days. Today is nice. No humidity. Still have the high temps though and will continue for the next ten days. I know summer started yesterday, I'm eagerly waiting for the first day of fall.

I was noticing yesterday how our weather pattern seems flip-flopped right now...it is hotter in parts of the north right now than it is down here in the south! Who would have ever thought that would happen?

@moffittjc It does seem strange. We're in for a lot of hot days right now, and most likely humid as well. There's some humidity in the air today.

@just4him Our weather here is still acting atypical. We've got the heat (it is Florida in the summer, after all), but we have not had the humidity or storms. I wouldn't quite say we're in a drought situation, because Tropical Storm Colin dumped a summer's worth of rain on us a couple of weeks back, but with the absence of rain and humidity these past couple of weeks, our temperatures have soared to close to 100 degrees!

It makes it fun to be outdoors again, especially since it's summer for us. This lovely weather will only be here for another few days, and then we'll be back to our normal hot and humid days. So, yes, people are definitely taking advantage of it while they can! I saw so many people outside yesterday evening, either walking, jogging, sitting on their front porches, playing in their yards, etc. It was nice to be able to enjoy such a beautiful evening last night!

The other day I asked you to send some of that rain to me, since we've been in a bad heatwave. Well, the rain you sent arrived yesterday, and apparently we now have flood watches in effect because heavy rain is going to be over our area for the next 2-3 days. In fact, it's storming outside pretty bad right now. So, thanks for sending some of your rain!

@VivaLaDani13 It's all good! I love when it rains! Plus, we really need it! I just wish you would have sent some of your cold air as well!

Well...our weather's been nice the past few days, but not nice enough to turn off the a/c and open the windows! lol Besides, there's too many mosquitos! Even though all the windows have screens on them, somehow those pesky insects will still find their way into the house!

@Babs0630 Actually, when they squeeze through the little holes, their butts are still pretty small. It's after they feast on our blood that their butts get fat, and then they get stuck in the house and buzz around our ears all night driving us crazy! lol

Yesterday was lovely. Today the air isn't as clean as I need, but such is life. We are into summer now, I think. But where I live, it won't hit the 90s, fingers crossed.
