Hello fellow mylotters. Hows your day/ evening in your side of the world?
Today, I was awaken by the sun shining bright to our bedroom window. It´s a beautiful day today. How about yours?
Yesterday was not a bright day for me as I had to go to the emergency hospital nearby because of my left side chest pain, a bit numbness in my lower left side of my face, dry throat and as if somebody trying to strangle me slowly in the middle of the night and after lunch. I was scared because I have to fly soon.
Arriving at the hospital, I was immediately treated by the doctors and their assistants. They did a lot of examinations like ECG and so on. Of course I told them also that my left arm was troubling me already because I am working part time as a wellness massage therapist. Well I did a lot of Thai massage at work and it was hard work.
When I went to the hospital I was thinking of having the symptoms of stroke and that I can´t fly. Well, the doctor said, it was not a stroke. It was just a muscle distortion in my chest but then I have to go to a neurologist because of the numbness of my face and to my home doctor to check my health. My blood pressure was high and I was surprised because I usually have low blood pressure.
I know some of you at Mylot are nurses and maybe some of you have experienced it. Any advice?
After I went to the hospital, I went to my work and told my kind boss and workmates that I could not come to work again this week. This Saturday was supposed to be my last day at work this year. I´ll be back working next year, if my health permits.
I hope I have not bored you with my illness post. I hope you are all healthy. Thanks for reading Guys.

I am sorry Thelma, I am not a nurse and I have not idea why your blood pressure was suddenly high. My doctor told be that the rise in blood pressure can be caused by stress. May be you arrived at the hospital very stressed because you thought it was a stroke and you feared not to be able to fly. Let us know how you feel now.

You get it right @LadyDuck. I think it was actually what happened. I was in stress thinking I had stroke and not be able to fly home. I am okay now and the pain is gone and I hope it will not come back again. I am taking a rest and will not be working again until next year.

When you were describing your symptoms, I was thinking anxiety attacks. I've had several ER visits thinking I was having a stroke or heart attack. After all the EKGs and testing, even taking nitroglycerin, finding out it wasn't my heart! Even did the stress test and my heart is fine. You're high blood pressure was probably from worrying about what was wrong with you.
Btw,I'm not a nurse, just experienced similar situation!! Take care of yourself!!

Thank you very much for sharing your experience. Maybe it was just an anxiety attack and the high blood pressure only from worrying much. I am taking good care of myself now and will listen to my body carefully. Thanks @STOUTjodee

Thank you @Inlemay. I am feeling well now. I think it was just a muscle distortion in my chest and because I thought it was stroke, so I had a high blood pressure when the doctors examined me. I have to go to a check up though but our family doctor is still in vacation until Monday.

Good thing it was not a stroke; since they had conducted ECG and other tests. Did they prescribed any medicine for your blood pressure? I read in the net that when you feel like having a stroke, try to cough several times because it will ease some pressure on the nerves. I don't know, but there's no harm in trying when the need arise.

Last week I wasn't feeling good, but I'm better this week. I'm not a nurse, but that does sound like stroke.

I am glad you are okay now @JESSY3236. Yes, it sounded like a stroke that is why I went to the emergency doctor immediately. I am glad that it was not.
