Good morning,Home from the club.It has been a week since my accident.
I come right home.Still shaken by this and feeling nervous at times.
I hate the feeling but it is there.
Do my thing and come straight home.Hope this feeling goes away.
The scene is still with me .I feel so safe at home. When I am not out driving.
I do not know how many here ever had an accident. For those who do.
They know the feeling.
Will take awhile to get that image out of my mind.
Till then.I am doing pretty good.
Have a good day and be safe

I'd like to tell you that not only will this discussion have views from people trying to help you to face your fear but you have inspired so many of us. I love the fact how you haven't lost hope & regardless of how hard it is for you, you still do travel. This will help you fight your fear much more quicker, I am pretty sure!
You're a wonderful brave man! Don't worry, this fear will all fade away soon!

Reality is you are an elderly person Alfredo and you have to be extra cautious and careful in what you do. I have been in 4 auto accidents.

I am very sorry this happened to you. I know the feeling all too well. I was rear ended (no fault of my own), 2 times in less than a 10 year time frame. Luckily I was driving Van's (bigger vehicles) and the only damage was the back doors. But, it really upset me. I still fear it will happen again to me. That is why I detest and loathe tailgaters!
Also, another long story, when I was age 12, I was hit by a car in a parking lot, no fault of my own.My left leg was injured badly. I had surgeries on it and to this day I still have scars. I am 52 years old and still have the scars nearly 40 years later.
So, I really do empathize with you. Sometimes, I wish I didn't have to go anywhere.

@amadeo I still have the scars on my left leg. I had plastic surgery done on three places. I can walk and run, but if I am standing too long, my ankle will swell. My knee will occasionally still hurt in a mild way. And I do walk on more of the side of my left foot. As hard as I try to walk with my foot flat on the ground, I can't do it. If a person really looks closely, they may notice that I kind of have a limp when walking. But it is not a very severe limp. And the plastic surgery scars are still very sensitive and if I get a cut on them, it takes double time to heal. And, I still have one spot on my leg that is numb nearly 40 years later.

@LeaPea2117 I feel like that sometime. Not to go anywhere.
I myself was hit playing catch on the road and the car hit me.
Not as bad as you.I have a broken nose out of this.I was ten or under years old.
How are you feelings now?

I can completely understand how you feel I have never been able to overcome this fear since I had the accident. I still feel mortified when I go out on the road.
All i try to be extra cautious and safe.

it will ease off - give it time and hopefully have someone who can take over the driving if you need to stop

Aw Fredo, I am so sorry to hear it..yes I do have flashbacks with things that have occured in life.
I hope this leaves you soon my friend.
There are methods that are supposed to help with it, but none of those ever work for me.

I think it is perfectly normal to feel the way you are feeling. When we went on vacation last month we were 10 vehicles behind a deadly accident. A 13 year old girl was killed. It's a road we have to travel at least once a week. Now everytime we go that way I get anxious and upset. I hope you get over being worried.
When I was 4 I was in a serious accident, I still remember it

When I was 19, returning the few miles home from the beach in southern California with my girl friend, we were broadsided by a stop sign runner. He hit the passenger side, but my passenger was not hurt. I was in the hospital five days with a broken vertebrae in my neck, concussion, broken nose and beat up face. The car was a total loss. I drive pretty defensively these days.
