News On MyLot

Do you care to read news items on myLot? I was looking at my past discussions and all the ones I wrote on news (like the death of Patty Duke) have very few likes. This brings me to the question of whether myLotters want to read news on myLot.
It is my guess they do not. That maybe because we hear the news on television and radio and just don’t want to revisit it here on myLot. Or maybe I just don’t have followers who care about the news. Or maybe by the time I get it posted everyone has already heard about it and are not interested in reading about it.
On the other hand it might just be me. I know from experience that not everyone is going to like what or how someone writes. It’s a fact of life the same as not everyone is going to like certain people.
Anyway, my conclusion is for me to stay away from posting news items.
Has anyone else noticed a low “like” count on news' items?

I think you're right. I don't thing anyone wants to hear the same news over and over.

I have not actually got into statistics about this, but I think you are correct Richard when you say the news on myLot is old news as we all usually already know it.

@RichardMeister Not that it bothers me though, I will still respond and happily, but that is just me.

This is what I was thinking. No need to revisit it here.

I rarely write anything "newsy" except for the news that goes on in my life . But I don't mind reading news posts here - as long as it's more than straight news. I like to hear myLotter opinions and such . . . sometimes we get the inside scoop from someone who is actually there - that's always interesting to me.

I never pay attention to likes or how many comments. I do what I'm going to do and it's out of my control if everyone likes it or not. Sometimes people may just forget to hit the like button. There's a difference between posting a straightforward Patty Duke passed away today with the details than posting some personal thoughts to go along with the news section because it's the personal ingredient triggering discussion of others' appreciation and thoughts on Patty Duke.

I see what you are saying. Patty Duke lived in this area so there was a few personal thoughts and things she did in the community which I thought would interest some.

I enjoy discussing the news (though I missed your Patty Duke story). I think it's whatever angle you take on it that makes the difference.

it's sad but true, the news is nothing more than old news. Doesn't mean that you can not make it entertaining
