Recently when mylot did an update they started showing new ads with helpful tips. I love seeing these. Just now I saw a really disgusting one though. It said to save water to not flush the toilet as often "When its yellow let it mellow, when its brown flush it down" that's what it said. Gross.. Urine sitting in a toilet bowl stinks and makes the toilet and room smell. I will not be following this tip.

That would be very unhealthy and unsanitary.

It isn't really as it is quite fine to drink urine...as shown on various survival shows.

@Mike197602 Wouldn't the odor be bad after it's been sitting in the toilet for a while! And hopefully it's not shared between other people too!

@infatuatedbby I never found any odour whatsoever. Even though this site is not always right I think it is on this issue. As time goes on I think water will become a very expensive commodity and we'll all be doing this.
My stepmom told me this. I say, if it's yellow, let it mellow and if its brown, flush it down.

Yea it is just too much for me. We do not have a lack of water here but if we did I would still be hard pressed to do this tip ick.

I have lived in areas where we had water shortages. We had to follow this tip or risk not having enough water. Couldn't water our gardens, wash our cars, etc. Take care of earth's water or many more will be needing to conserve water in many ways.

I let the rain wash my vehicles and lawns. I do water the garden though.

The tip does sound disgusting. Perhaps a new revised tip will do like flush toilet as often as used.

I don't know about the US but here loads of us have water meters so we are charged by what we use. It is actually a money saving tip if you're on a meter. Personally I don't think it smells.

I have a well so thankfully I am not charged for the water. I do pay $49 a month for my sewer bill. That is a flat rate no matter how much I flush.
