My New Apartment

@just4him thats good... for some reason I thought you had a dog..

@sueznewz2 I did have, but I had to put her down in January. She had aggressive cancer.

It's less than 5 minutes from where I currently live. I don't have any pets and they don't allow them. Thanks, I'm looking forward to the move.

@just4him It is all a matter of timing, that is probably why so many people hate moving.

I love it! Now just to get the out date for this house and get moved in.

@pgiblett I hate moving because I've moved so many times in my life. I'm really hoping I'm finally settled with this move.

@just4him Oh me too, I love marble cake or cherry chip the best of all. Now, if we can just find a good baker here on the site to bake us a cake and we'll host a little party for us and anyone that can join us next month!

@Juliaacv Strange Woman's birthday is also July 20. Not into cherries. I've seen lots of fabulous recipes here on the site from many good cooks. I'd do the honors, but July is one of the hottest months, and if I'm moving, I won't have time to bake. Lots of people seem to have their birthday on the 20th. It looks like I'm alone on the 19th.

Thank you! I love it! I should know soon when I can move in. Though I have a date the apartment will be available, what I don't have yet is the out date for my house and everything now hinges on that. I told them at the office it would be by the end of summer.

The day before. July 19. I don't think anything spectacular happened on my birthday as happened on yours. Though I'll need to check it out. Yes, we're about a month apart and how many years.

That's going to be my next challenge. I'm going to ask at church to see if I can get some help. I have time before that happens.

@just4him i'm sure yer daughter'd not mind :) 'd no doubt enjoy the visit, know i sure would. that's great 'bout the closets! yer correct, so many've nary a one fer some odd reason. momma 'n the aunt'd rented from one'f those low-income places here a few years back. no counter space, the kitchen barely'd cabinets :( fer a 2 bedroom (all open floor plan...which 'twas weird, did've space fer their own washer/dryer though) 't'was $575 a month each. crappy neighborhood 'n the first time it rained, both places were flooded - water jest gushed from under the door! yepperz, they moved back into momma's house's soon's their leases were'p.

@crazyhorseladycx I can understand that. My own house has barely the counter space in the kitchen I need and not enough cupboards, and the bath is a cubbyhole. Makes me wonder why I ever selected this house in the first place. Oh well. Yes, my daughter is going to allow me to use her washer and dryer, so that's a good thing.

I found out this morning that this is a low income subsidy apartment complex. I quite agree with you. My finding an apartment I could afford in the range they gave me to work with was a challenge and to find two bedrooms for this price is unthinkable, even here. Most of the apartments I found and discarded were one bedroom, much higher than this one. Even the one bedroom I looked at before this one that rejected me, was smaller than this one and a lot less storage. This one has closets everywhere and two of them in the master bedroom. There is only a single washer/dryer per building and on the second floor. I'll be talking to my daughter about doing laundry at her place as I can't climb steps that well. Usually rent in the amount I found it for has slum lords for landlords who don't maintain their property very well, so yes, I was very fortunate to find this great bargain, and I'm looking forward to moving in as soon as I have my out date for the house. As for the kitchen and bath, both are larger than my kitchen, or at least I have more cupboards in the apartment than I do in my own home. I have only a cubby hole for a bathroom so yes, I agree, that bathroom is huge by comparison and it has a nice large linen cupboard in it. I've never seen an apartment with as many closets as this one does and the water heater is right there in the apartment. I couldn't have gotten a better apartment if I tried, and I looked, but they just didn't work for me, and I almost passed this one by. I'm glad I didn't.

@just4him - Your new apartment sounds better and better. I love it when I move and I don't have to find new stores and other businesses to use. There's enough stress with moving, without having to start entirely new business relationships!

@DeborahDiane So true. There's a Walgreen's on every corner it seems, but not all of them are 24 hour, so I'll keep the one I've got as it's much more convenient that way.

Thank you. I'm actually closer to Wal-Mart from there than from where I live now. I think. Might be the same distance. I'll keep the same Walgreen's for my pharmacy as the one closer I think isn't 24 hours like the one I currently go to.

Thank you. I'm sorry you weren't able to see it. It's pretty much a typical two bedroom apartment. It has a galley kitchen and nice sized rooms and lots of storage.

Yes it is, and I really need it for an office. I just can't put the computer just anywhere and I have filing cabinets and all, though not sure if I'm taking the cabinets, we'll see. I'm still sorting out what's staying and what's going to the thrift stores.
