Goodnight dear Ralph

Another bit of genuine sweetness has fallen away from us. The only hope that I have for this needy world is that another younger person will step up and continue on. Bluegrass Grandfather Ralph Stanley has passed away. He became famous when he was in his 70s due to his singing Oh Death! in the movie Brother Where Art Thou. Before that he was known and loved to the American bluegrass crowd. His plaintive authentic voice carried the crowd. I just heard him singing Amazing Grace. Goodnight dear brother Ralph. Say hello to my Dad. He'll be the cowboy with the harmonica, drumming on the dashboard of an old truck.

RIP He was known for his distinctive singing style and his banjo playing. The king of bluegrass.
