What really is the connection of Bestfriends of opposite sex.

Why bestfriends of opposite sex remains as friends? Is it really a choice? Is there no physical attraction?

I guess its mostly out of respect, mybest friends sister had a crush on me and she was very pretty and I would never talk to her or look at her that way out of respect, same goes for a close female friend of mine

It depends on who is your best friend. If I have a friend like you, then it would be difficult for me, not to get attracted.
