Should I buy this car?

I generally drive a Nissan Xterra. It's built on a truck frame, gets decent gas mileage, has good storage capacity (for hauling guitars, basses, bicycles, etc.), and is attractive in an understated kind of way. But I thought a second car might be nice. I like the lines of the one pictured. Do you think I should buy it? I forget the price, but I think it's under $200,000. I'm kidding, of course. It turns out that one of my kid clients is excellent at drawing. He showed me a picture he'd drawn of a police car, and it was so good I thought he'd traced it. I took him to the Maserati dealership on our last outing, and we photographed this car and a Corvette Stingray from two different angles each. I look forward to his artistic renditions. By the way, what's the purpose of having a Maserati in the real world? The speed limit is 65 on most of our freeways, and I think I'd be paranoid in I had a $150,000 car parked out there on the streets. I worry enough about my $3000 Collings guitar when I use it for gigs. Does it show the world you're successful? Does it "bag chicks," if you're single? Would you own one of these if you were super rich? I do like the lines. I even like the color! Hmm.

What is an old man car? If a younger you had a Maserati, you'd certainly get plenty of looks from strangers.

I'd be more likely to buy property then get a kiddo car and make vroom noises.

Corvettes are mid-life crisis cars. Most owners are in their 40s or above, I think. Not sure about Maseratis.

@TheHorse One of my brothers has some kind of fancy sports car now. I've not seen it just heard about it from my Mom. Bright red. She has a time of it getting into it cause it is low to the ground. He's in his mid 60s.

@sallypup May many "hot" 40-something younger women with blonde hair and dark roots ride shotgun with him and enjoy the wind through their (slightly stiff) locks.

Thank god I am not that rich...pony...seriously. I hate limos...though your car would be big too..lol. If they can afford that much why not spend some more to get a decent RV ...Expensive cars are a waste of money. We are planning to buy a car ..yes. Ours is still ok...but imagine 16 years old. I am opting for Wagon R which (will cost about 7500 USD). Dad is looking at something that will be 1/3rd less, without auto gear and with bucket seats. I am strictly against bucket seats. Pony dad is old, if ever god forbid I have to take him to hospitals, seating him or making him lie or get up from bucket seats would be tough. That is the reason I am willing to pay slightly more. Whatever...dad too gets to live only once, right?

@TheHorse ..Oh very high. But that is another reason I want automatic...dad is 82...if he is going out...and panics and does not have enough presence of mind...you know...and in any event, it is for keeps, not for changing every other year. Our present vehicle is second hand car. It is in fairly good condition, but mileage and air conditioning are a concern.

@vandana7 An automatic is probably good for an older person. Does he enjoy driving?

True--you only live once. What percentage on Indians still drive a clutch (non-automatic)? I do (I like shifting gears), but very few Americans still do.

Pretty cool looking car, but that guitar sounds great too. Does it "bag the chicks" too?

My son's father in law owns a Maserati sedan, a Mercedes convertible, and a big Mercedes SUV. My brother owned a red Porsche. We own a couple of luxury cars, too. Insurance is a good thing to have with any of those babies. I say, go for it! Lol! It's funny that the ones who would love to drive this beauty are too young to afford it, and the older people, who can afford it, buy them. It is awesome looking!

Yeah, cars fascinating to young males. I grew up in Chicago, and most of us didn't have cars (not practical). That's why my fascination is with stereo gear, not cars. But I still know a late '60s Camaro from a '70s one, etc. It must be something about having XY chromosomes.

One of my old school friends has TWO Maseratis and a heap of C2V's (Citreon somethings). He had a career as an explosions expert. There's money in that, isn't there?

@TheHorse Probably best not to look too closely into explosions! I think it was on mining sites overseas - probably Nigeria! :)

The richy rich don't worry about the laws. They go as fast as they like. They feel that they are above the law. They can afford the best lawyers to get them off should they be stopped or charged with anything. And, yes to all of the above.

@TheHorse There was one car that I absolutely loved the Jaguar E type 1960. The reason why my husband bought the Nissan 280 ZX was the fact it looked a lot like that Jaguar.

Cars are a guy thing. Almost all of the boys I work with can name most of the cars we pass. I tell them that 1965 Mustangs excite me (kind of true), so they point out Mustangs to me whenever we pass one.

My husband calls maseratis 'dentists' cars' because the local dentist where he grew up had two. It does rather detract from the sexiness of the car.

It is silly to have a high performance car in real life. I believe in being practical, but if I had a second car, it would be a classic one, and not something like this. A 1965, powder blue, porthole Thunderbird would be nice.

It is a really nice car however I don't see the point in buying such expensive cars. A nice car is a nice thing to have but the price tags on these cars are just too much. I think its pointless. Making the rich richer and the poor poorer with these cars.
