The Rose

Every year our rose bush grows one, and only one, yellow rose. My son, C, can't wait for it to fully unfold before he's picking it...for me. This year I had to bite my tongue to keep from correcting him for picking it so soon. Instead, I thanked him profusely for his gift and suggested that maybe it would fully open if we put it in a glass of water. And it did. Now it floats in a cup on our kitchen window sill. Every time I wash my hands or do the dishes, I see it. It makes me smile and reminds me of how precious my son is. Have your little ones bestowed a sweet gift upon you lately?

I have no kids of my own, but I will be getting married this year and hopefully we have our own little one by next year I love to listen to stories people have to tell about their little ones. Children are such a blessing and it really requires to groom them right and make them what they are suppose to be.

A kiss. These days it's hard to get a kiss from my son. He's becoming a teenager and he seems to be embarrassed to kiss me these days which makes me sad.

You have to understand things change with time.

@sj3011 Aw, but it doesn't have to. My uncle still kisses his mother's cheek and he's a full-grown man!

I'm guessing once he's past this awkward teen stage, he'll come back around with the kisses. Don't lose hope!

How sweet is your son. Roses are my favorite flowers and it's my name too.

It's the only rose bush I haven't unintentionally killed yet. And for some reason, it only gives us one flower. I wonder if it's magic...

I'm sloooowly learning on when to bite my tongue. It's taking me awhile to get this mom-thing down. And I've been doing it for 11 years! It's harder than I thought it would be!
