A very busy day today with some promising surprises in store.
As I had two appointments in Chorlton in South Manchester I sorted out my mum’s paper-bills early in the morning, brought her tickets home for her and headed right out again.
I headed to a jobs fair in Chorlton, talking to a few employers, and then being in Chorlton, I arranged to meet up for a drink there with a dear friend.
During our very informal pub-lunch we discussed my current need for rehousing, and she told me that she actually has a spare flat I could potentially rent from her but it is in Preston, some way out from Manchester. We are arranging to visit the property soon.
Her second surprise was that she wants me to give a talk on pub signs to a social group she organizes talks for in Chorlton, so I’m booked in as their guest in September.
I went from Chorlton to Manchester, stopping off at the central library as it started raining, and from there I went to a creative writing workshop in Manchester, which was very lively and productive. I went for a few drinks with the other writers afterwards.
I got home at near midnight to find my new bed mattress had arrived. That surprised me as Amazon had told me it wasn’t due until the 30th June – 4th July period. It was two days early. I took it up to my room, just to get it out of the way, intent on swapping it for my old mattress the following morning. The old one is very old and its springs are starting to come through the mattress foam itself.
My mum guessed what I was doing and followed me with set of rolled plastic bags mithering me to cover the old mattress entirely as if I was going to work on it right away. I just went to bed.

Sounds like a satisfy day for the most part. Glad your mattress got there early. We've slept on some pretty bad ones in the past.

I am glad there might be a spot to live, even it's not as convenient, it would better than the other possible options!
