In the United States we are rapidly coming upon Independence Day, July 4. Firecrackers are always a part of the celebration and we are warned to protect our pets to keep them from being frightened or injured.
Fireworks are for sale here, and I have heard some going off.
I think Princess is smart. She has been very content inside all day today.
Or she may smell the gunpowder in the firecrackers.
I am sharing an old picture of fireworks I took about two years ago in a park in McPherson.

Thanks a lot. I was happy to get some good shots. Princess just seems to know what is good for her.

I think that I would rather that they be scared and stay close than curious and get hurt.

I lived in Quebec when the Royal Fireworks factory went up in smoke. Had front row seats at work. The window to the lunchroom faced all the excitement. There was a lot of field between us and the fireworks show but since it wasn't under control that was probably as close as I would have been comfortable. Would have been a lot more dazzling at night but this of course wasn't planned.
I'm glad the company had the good sense to locate in a barn out in the country. The laws at the time in Quebec would have allowed your neighbour to build this stuff in his garage.

Scary thought about it blowing up and that it would have been legal in your neighborhood.

The usual warnings in my part of the world cause really there should be zero fireworks going off anywhere. Too dry. Just hot and dry and like today, out of the blue, the wind gusted 30 miles an hour then quit. Some folks are starting to wise up and ban such dangerous activity.

There are other places where you can buy and shoot fireworks year around. I think we are too close together to do that, personally.

It's so dry here that we aren't allowed to have bonfires or set off fireworks, even with it being the 4th.

When it is that dry we have to be careful. Otherwise an escaped fire can be dangerous and cost a lot.

@GardenGerty Yup, especially since we have a lot of cornfields and grassy areas that are dried out.

We found the missing kittens yesterday.Actually Little Girl decided to move them from wherever they've been hidden and put them in the garage. We moved her and them into the house.

Fireworks over the water are beautiful. This is the first I have heard of your National Day.
