I kid you not... a bird flew into my neck this morning.

United States

I was sitting outside around 5 am this morning. It's our break time. In any case, birds like to nest in the rafters. They also play games and fly around up there. A bird flew into the back of my neck this morning and then swiftly flew under my feet. It happened so quickly, and it was but a bump against the back of my neck. I suppose it's alright as it didn't seem to be stunned. I wonder that it might have been a baby bird though, just getting it's wings.

I had sweated all night. I doubt I smelt appetizing at the time.

You sure they're not plotting against you? I thought a bird flew into our window a few days ago. Turns out, it was just my son shooting a hair scrunchy across the room. Either way, it startled me. I can't imagine how much more startling it'd be to have a bird actually crash into me!

It must have been a swallow.

I told my co workers about it last night. My manager told me he saw a little bird that looked as if it had been injured that morning when he left. I'm not sure what kind of birds we have flying around here, they never stay still enough for me to take a picture.

@ScribbledAdNauseum The reason I mentioned a swallow is because it is the only bird I know with a name that can be associated with neck.

@infatuatedbby I get startled by people coming up behind me. My hearing isn't the best and they will come up whilst I am deep in thought.

It startled me but I wouldn't say it frightened me. I had thought about getting up from my seat but decided to wait to see if it would happen again.

Sounds like that bird didn't get approval from the tower on take off or make a flight plan. That time in the morning is interesting. :-)

It might have gotten approval but it seems it veered off course.

I think me. As I said the bird flew away, though it did fly low for a moment.

@responsiveme I can't say I blame it's directional skills. It was dark out afterall.

You just got proof you are invisible. I hope the bird is okay.

I hope so too. IT flew low for a monment but then was flying around the rafters so I think it mustn't have been too stuned.

Oh my goodness. How strange to experience that. The little thing must still be learning "steering" lol.

I didn't feel a beak or feet, just it's body. I wasn't sure what it was at first! I hope it has it's mother or father to help it. Though I think most birds just fly from the nest and that's that.

I think the bird is fine. It didn't seem to be too stunned. It was flying around afterwards.

These birds are playful things. I've seen them fly about from one perch to another in game. I've not seen the birds in awhile, and only heard the one so I wonder if maybe it was the last to leave the nest.

Maybe it was a dare for another bird. Maybe that bird was saying I dare you to hit the first person you see. lol
