Comparing Prices

Today was another hot one. We haven't ventured out far. We went to the post office which was probably a useless trip. I wrote my nephew a letter yesterday and after I thought about it I realized there will be no mail man until Tuesday. So we drove to the post office, I thought maybe there would be mail pick up earlier from the post office, but I think not. My nephew probably wont receive my letter til the middle of next week. Anyway it's in the hands of the post office. We stopped by Sprouts on the way home and picked up a watermelon for 1.99, then on to Aldi's and bought grapes 2.88 for two lbs, apples 2.99 for three lbs, cherries 1.88 a lb, cucumbers .49 each, cream cheese 1.29 for 8 oz., eggs .79 a dozen and a few other things. Alidi's is our lowest priced grocery store, other than when Sprouts or Krogers have a few sales items marked lower. Aldi's watermelons were 2.49. I'm giving you the prices because I'd like to know what groceries cost where you live if you don't mind answering. By the way, we filled up the gas tank for 2.13 a gallon.

That sounds about right for groceries here as well. Your gas is a lot cheaper. Ours is $2.45. It dropped .04 since yesterday.

Our gas dropped in the last couple of days. It's been going down slowly for several days.

@just4him wouldn't it be nice if gas kept dropping to 1.00 a gallon? I remember that it was once that price.

Wow, your eggs are expensive, I would use fewer eggs if I had to pay that price. Although ours were that high for awhile during the winter.

@infatuatedbby Some years ago we had many chicken houses in our area, but now i don't believe we have one left. I don't know where they went to. Makes me wonder where out eggs come from.

Your prices are cheaper than the prices are here. Milk is only a $1.89 a gallon. A watermelon is almost $5.

Prices are that high at some of our grocery stores. I try to stay from those stores.

Most prices here are higher than those I quoted. Aldi has lower prices than other grocery stores.

Do you live that near Germany? I know people in Arizona who walk across the street from the U.S. and shop in Mexico.

I love Aldi as well! It's such a cheap store-I wish there was one closer to us where we are now. I was going to send something in the mail yesterday but decided to wait until Tuesday since nothing will be sent until then anyway.

If you must drive long distance, it probably isn't worth it. Our Aldi is within walking distance of our apartment.

We don't often find watermelons priced that low, it was a sale item to draw people in. I pulled one on them. I bought my watermelon and left the store.

There might not be mail on Sunday's and holiday's, but the mail still moves. I worked at the post office processing center here a number of years ago, and it was open every day for sorting mail and getting it to it's destination. The only thing the mail doesn't do is deliver on Sunday's and holidays.

Probably not much point giving you our prices as it's metric for starters and in Australia for seconds.
