Why worry?

Why worry? Worry can get you no where except to a place of feeling more miserable. It can steal away the pleasures of today, drown out the happiness of the moment and destroy your peace of mind.
Its been a month since I have put up my house for rent and I haven't got a decent tenant. That means 20% of our earnings are down.. and its tough times here for us right now. However, I don't let my mind worry about when and how. I tell myself it will happen when it does.. I am at peace and have fun.. it doesn't weigh me down at all.
Do you let worry destroy your peace?

Dianne, my mom was a worrier, I'd say it might be in my genes, yet I've learned a better way. I'm not saying that I never worry, but I do my best to leave it behind because I've experienced the ill-effects of worry. It's much healthier to trust God for all those things whether they are financial or about our children or whatever it may be.

There are worries in everyone's lives but you should not feel low because after every dark night there is a bright sunny day. So don't worry you'll soon find a good tenant. Wish u all the very best.

findin' suitable tenants seems to be a universal trouble these days. i oft wonder if'n such aint due to the time'f year, 'r if'n folks've finally realized they can purchase fer jest's cheap - so many charge way more'n i'd be willin' to pay anyhow...but folks charge what the market allows.
i don't worry. my mamaw did more'n 'nough'f that fer the entire family :) she'd make schtuff'p to worry 'bout sometimes, bless yer soul.

@crazyhorseladycx LOL I guess my momma did that too.. Perhaps that is why I refuse to worry. I did have good tenants for a while but they left the state. I am sure I will get a good family.. I just need to wait.

It's hard not to worry about things in this life. I love what the Apostle Paul wrote while he was in prison in Rome: Philippians 4:6,7 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

@1creekgirl I love the fourth chapter of Philippians. What an amazing verse this is.. When we surrender everything to God in prayer and thanksgiving a peace that transcends all understanding come in. Its our job to 'guard our heart' form fear, worry and anxiety.

That's great that you've gotten to a place where you don't allow your circumstances to sway your peace of mind. I do my best to keep worries at bay. The only worry I've dealt with over the years is the financial one, but God helped us out a few years ago by helping open the door for me to go full-time at work. When I keep in mind that God will supply I can remain peaceful for longer periods of time.
If your house is up for rent, where are you living? Or are you in the same place and just finally renting one that was empty for a while?

@MarshaMusselman Yes, I firmly believe that "My God will supply all my needs according to His riches in Glory through Christ Jesus!" Faith and worry don't go hand in hand.
We bought another house in a quieter part of town and moved there just over a year ago.. so this one is up for rent as my tenant of one year has found a better job in another state.

@MarshaMusselman I am glad to have met you too. You are right about that.. they do not seem to understand that faith and fear/worry/anxiety cancel out each other as they are opposites. I love teaching this to people as often as I can. Hope to meet you too in the life beyond.

@sofssu You're right about faith and worry, also known as fear. I don't think most Christians understand that they aren't trusting God when they worry about things beyond their control. I believe that a lot of illness are a direct result of people worrying more than trusting.
Cool to know that we may meet one day in the next life.

I keep telling myself that if I have done all I can do, worry is no longer helping, but it's hard

Sometimes I can't sleep when something worries me. I just feel like I have to resolve it as soon as possible. But when there's nothing I can do but be patient, that doesn't bother me at all.

Worry was my twin sister most of my life.. But, it was a necessary worry.. I was so worried about being homeless that I worked so hard and lived frugally for the last 25 years.. My worries paid off though because at my age, I no longer worry about homelessness ..
But I can relate to worrying a little about not getting decent tenants .. We have a couple of houses that we are renting out and we have been very fortunate to have long term tenants and they look after the properties like their own homes ..
Anyway, do you have real estate agent managing your property? They should be able to find you good tenants...
Oh! that flowers is gorgeous!!

@epiffanie You did not stop with worrying you worked hard and scrounged to save up for your future.. That kind of anxiety pays off. I am happy that you no longer worry.
I find that when I worried a lot I could never be happy.. Now I am at peace trouble or no trouble.
Thanks .. I loved the look of that rain drenched flower a few days ago.
