I had better write it down

I just made a fruity, creamy fruit salad for tonight. I guess i need to write down what I did.
It certainly would be shame if my daughter-in-law would want to make it and could not.
The original recipe called for Cool Whip.
I do not use that anymore. I make real whip cream.
Do you have a preference?

I have never made real whip cream, is it hard?

No, and I got started because of something on Facebook that said put it in a jar and shake forty five seconds. For me, I find it is easier to just use the stick blender. I use a cup of heavy cream and a little powdered sugar (to taste) and a teaspoon of vanilla. They caution not to whip too long or you will have butter.

I have yet to find anything that is not just as good with real whipped cream.

Definitely prefer real whip cream. Don't get it often though. My mom used to make it for strawberry shortcake every summer.

I grew up with either Cool Whip or "Dream Whip" which you had to whip yourself. It was more work than real cream.

Cool whip is one of those chemical foods. I understand it has eighteen ingredients, none of them good for you. Ready whip is an aerosol whipped cream with thickeners.

@GardenGerty I'd forgotten. We do have the aerosol type whipped cream.

I make homemade whipped cream for special occasions. I use the store brand whipped topping most often. However, I don't eat it much. Neither does my husband.
