My first B ultrasound examination

China
July 5, 2016 5:36am CST
Here, people aged 65 and above have a free checkup once a year. The last few years,I just did other physical exams and chose not to do B ultrasound examination, because I thought that I hadn’t ever felt out of sorts anywhere in my body. This year,I eventually agreed to do it under my wife’s nagging me to do it.To be frank,I felt a bit nervous and feared there would be some bad examination results before I went to hospital this morning .It just took about 20 minutes to finish the B ultrasound examination and was not as complicated as I had thought. To my relief, all was normal!.

That's great, I'm glad that everything is normal. I've never had a check-up in my life, never felt the need for it.

Oh, I'm so glad all turned out to be normal! My parents rarely go to the doctors, and I have inherited their attitude about going - but I know I should go. What a relief to know once and for all that you are healthy!

@changjiangzhibin89 Ah, so now it's all about "maintaining" your good health. The good thing is you don't have the stress of worrying about the test as much anymore as the results on this first one was just fine.

Yes,I didn't want to take the trouble before now.Since it is a free check up and the hospital has a duty to get us to check up once a year,I have to do it every year.

@much2say Yes, next year I will think nothing of it.But there again,it is better to find it earlier if something is wrong in our body.

@SIMPLYD B stands for type-B.There are type-A,type-M and doppler ultrasound except type-B.Sorry ,I don't know them well enough to detail them.

Ultrasound is a sound that is too high for human to hear ,which is used to produce an image of something inside one's body and determine if it is normal.I think your daughter knows well about it .

I also didn't know what a B ultrasound was until I read Sids reply. I'm glad it was normal, I know I need to get on my doctor to check me for that one eye disease (where they dilute the eyes) because my doctor has not done this and by my age, I should have been tested years ago.

This time they mainly scanned my liver, gall bladder, pancreas, etc. The B ultrasound is safe to do.I don't know what the "dilute the eyes"means.

@Carmelanirel2 They must have put the atropine eyedrops which dilates pupils so that they could check the eye ground.

@changjiangzhibin89 They put drops in your eyes (and you can't see clearly for a while, so someone has to drive you) and they check for this eye disease that causes blindness.

It is a bit worrying isn't it? Sometimes I don't really want to know if something is wrong. I'd rather be ignorant of the fact. I am glad your tests were normal.

@JudyEv Few of the people my age still have a perfect set of teeth. However toothache ,periodontitis and so on can't be trifled with ,which even cause heart disease.Hope the checkup result is normal!

@changjiangzhibin89 Now you've done it once you won't feel so worried about it next time. I need to go to the dentist just for a check-up but I have been putting it off for ages! Hopefully it will all be okay when I go too!

I think the ultrasound examination is very common as I had it three times when I was pregnant In fact I don't really trust the body examination. I don't think it really can find something wrong. I believe my own feeling much more.

Best to go for medical checkup once a year, especially when it is free of charge. You never know if anything is growing in the body. The sooner you discover it, the better.

Hello changjiangzhibin I had to search for what actually is the B scan and now I know it is about the eyes (in the broadest sense). Glad that the test results came out to be normal. Somewhere I do think that these tests should be done regularly after a particular age - just because of the Prevention is better than cure thing-getting diagnosed and finding out if there is anything wrong early, can help a better treatment.

@changjiangzhibin89 traditional medicines are mostly good. I have an Aunt who makes her own medicine for eyes and the best thing is that even at 75 she does not need any glasses to read. She can read newspapers too without glasses. but on the other hand, that medicine/preparation of hers is too strong for the eyes and they keep having a burning sensation for about 20 minutes after she puts in a drop in her eyes.

They like to have a good normal baseline ultrasound. Then when something or IF something goes wrong they will have images to see how things look for you when all is right. I am glad all is well at this time and wish you many more years of good health.

Sometimes the worry over the results is worse than the actual results. I've put off tests for that reason. I know I shouldn't but that doesn't seem to stop me.
