Just in from watering the tomatoes, what a nice relaxing way to start the day. The plants in my Garden really growing now with this toasty weather we've been having. It doesn't take much to grow your own tomatoes, not much space, not much effort. A raised bed is how I do it, but even if you only have a small patio you can raise a few plants in pots. If you're not already doing it I highly recommend it. Photo by author

@norcal I remember they always came to my father's tomato plants. I used to put one in a jar and feed it and observe the cocoon process.

@JohnRoberts Did it look like this? It's a Tomato Hornworm. They are very hard to spot when they are on the plant, but they are eating machines.

i've been growin' 'em'n pots fer some years out here. only way to do such durin' the extreme drought 'n so much easier to tend to. they're double potted with a reservoir so only needed to be watered 'bout e'ery 3 days - e'en with the triple digit weather we've been 'xperiencin'.

@crazyhorseladycx My hubby likes to make up a big vat of spaghetti sauce. Then he freezes it in meal sized portions, so we have it all winter. I like to make salsa and can it.

I am growing some in pots, but am confused about how much to water. Some leaves on the bottom are turning yellow but I have no idea why.

Our neighbour's tomatoes have sprouted and are starting to grow.
