I just got back from Monterrey Mexico for work. Nothing to crazy expect trying bugs for an appetizer.
I understand that this part of Mexico is not yet very developed yet, but I was surprised that when I got to the hotel it was promoting the Internet connection as excellent compared to other hotels. Maybe I expect more, but the internet at the hotel was at best poor. Because my cell phone plan for work is $1 per minute, I usually go over the internet to make a call out (not video and only audio) and my wife back in the states told me that I was cutting in and out a lot. One night I was connecting to work from the hotel and what should have taken me an hour to fix a problem, it took me 3 hours (I kept on dropping on the connection).
I thought, well maybe the hotel was just having problems that night. I tried every night i was at the hotel (sometimes earlier in the night and sometimes later and it did not help).
That is OK, my company I work for has an internet connect at our plant and it was maybe 1 step above a bad connection. I guess I am spoiled with the types of connections I get.
Either way we worked long hours, but we got a lot accomplished.

Yeah, because when I was at our plant and the Internet was slow or down a bit the employees kept telling me that this is not bad.

We have found that, when we are away from home, the internet service that hotels and other places promise is often a lot different from what is actually available.
