We had the place to ourselves

Today my youngest two were off school as the teachers were having a strike about something or other - it worked out quite well in terms of my nine year old as she had a 24 hour bug so wouldn't have been at school anyway. My partner promised to take our five year old son fishing though, but the weather turned a bit chilly AND he noticed his fishing licence was out of date so that was cancelled - I'd been planning to pop down to the soft play centre to book David's birthday party so decided to do that today and he could burn off some energy in there for an hour. I've never seen this place empty before but today it was and David had the run of the place - just him and one little lad who was so small he took up no room, it felt like I'd booked to close the place down just so my son could have a private play (very Victoria Beckham, eh?). Anyway, the party is booked - my purse is a couple of hundred quid lighter, and his birthday isn't even until December!
