On Monday, July 4th, there were two separate shootings in Chattanooga, Tennessee. One person died at each location. The shootings have been deemed 'gang related'. Gang violence is extremely bad in Chattanooga and there have been 82 shootings since January first. I can't remember the exact number that died in those shootings. Information on the two from July 4th: One was a young girl just turning 23 that day. Her family was planning her birthday party, now they are planning her funeral. She was found dead in her apartment. The second was a 28 year old man. In my words, here's the gist the lead-in on TV said, "28-year-old man, father of 9, killed on July 4th", Yes, another gang related murder. The part that gets me is the '9 kids'....He was 28 and had 9 kids, come on people. What's wrong with this picture? What's wrong with a little protection? I find it hard to believe that any gang member could afford to take care of 9 kids. Photo: pixabay.com/en/pistol-gun-handgun-weapon-firearm-1486534/

Wow - 9 children at that age?? Irresponsible at best. I'm glad I don't live near anywhere where there are gangs.

Our little town doesn't have gangs, there aren't enough people to form one LOL!

I bet those 9 kids were not to just one woman. I bet there are 4 or more Mothers. And I bet all of them are on Welfare and Food Stamps. That is the reason many people don't use protection, they want to have as many illegitimate kids as they can so they can get that government aid. It is sickening, because we the tax payer are supporting these jerks.

Yes we are paying for all of them. I guaranty they aren't all to one mother and if they are she has a real problem!

I hate to hear that gangs are a problem in Chattanooga - I love that city. People have children recklessly - poor kids will probably be gang members too.

It just keeps getting worse and worse, very scary to think what it will be like in a year or two.

Do you think that is correct? I suppose he didn't have to wait 9 months between each child did he? :)

With that level of violence I would not live there. I shall stick to my wet, cold but much safer home.

I wouldn't live there either and we don't even go there for the tourist attractions.

Thanks for sharing the News. I've heard no mention of this on National TV. I saw none of this on any newspaper 'Front Page'...Probably buried on page 16B under a 'Pest Exterminator' add :-)

I remember when Chattanooga was a lovely city. Now, as with you, I make sure I'm full, gassed up, and don't need to pee when I get close, because I don't want to stop.

We went to Rock City about 10 years ago and didn't think much of the 'problems'...but today they are far worse. We are in the Chatt. TV market so we hear that news daily and it's scary for sure.

There is something wrong in the system. Those young people have plenty of kids only to collect food stamps, but I am pretty sure that they do not even take care of their children.

That's sad about the 23 year old girl. And yeah nine kids don't sound right.
