Well, actually, not My, but my daughter's Bi-Polar diagnosis 10 years ago and the interesting and frightening events that followed. Happy to say though, that after I was told to institutionalize, give up custody to the state, and plan for her funeral, she is a delightful gorgeous young woman who is the light of my life and my bestie. She works full time and manages on her own! She's my heroine and success story! If you would like to know how we won, just respond!!! Happy to share

Thanks Bon. I am an optimist by nature and a problem solver, so when things look their worst, I plow through to a solution. My daughter was diagnosed at 14 years old. That was the good news because I was still her legal guardian and could make choices. I tried a great a many things. I did lose my well paying job. But I found the place that absolutely worked winders for her despite the odds. Jobcorp. If I had a million bucks, I'd donate to them!!!! I hope you are not going through anything similar, but if you are, I hope you have a great support systems and love in your life to help you through.

That is fantastic to hear! I can relate to her in many ways on the side of the depression. Hardest battle of my life and the Dr's had no idea what to try after going through all the options. So glad to hear she is doing well and hope that she continues to do well.

If that's a photo of her she really does look lovely - full of life. Your daughter is obviously very lucky to have you as her mother.

My daughter is Bi-Polar she'll be 16 in March. She has other issues as well she's been through so many test and they all come back inconclusive. I've always said she is my little puzzle she's is living life to the fullest right now she's surmerged herself in her music and art. It's hard to get through something like this especially when it's your child but it can be overcome. Happy to hear that your daughter is doing so well keep up whatever it is your doing. I have not learned yet what does bi polar do to a person. How does it affect a person's behavior and personality. I have read some things about it but have not fully understood it. Can you elaborate what differentiates a depression to being a bi polar. What are the usual behavior of being bi polar. What are the usual things they do.

I would just like to say good for you for taking such great care of your daughter and also good for your daughter for her coping with BPD in such a great way. Personally, I can relate quite closely to your daughter. I am a 25 year old, who was diagnosed with bi polar disorder at age 18, though at age 17, they first gave me anti-depressants (which apparently is/can be dangerous to people who are bi polar.. But if you don't know yet that you are bi polar then how is one to know.. I don't know, it's a bit confusing really!) Anyways, also, wanted to say good for your daughter for working full time, I have not been able to work full time for quite a while. That is great that she can do so :) I live alone at my own apartment, drive, stuff like that, but still sometimes feel like I should be much more of a productive member of society than I currently am, haha :(
