Some time ago I got a smart phone mostly so when I go to yard sales I can decided if something that interests me is a good seller on ebay. I thought this would help me not buy things I just couldn't resell. I do so love selling on ebay. I do it more for enjoyment than for the money. I got the smart phone and got the ebay app. As well the phone was pre loaded with a multitude of stupid apps I would never use. As it turned out the ebay app was way more bother than it was worth. I quit using it and made my yard sale decisions using my knowledge from selling on ebay for over 3 years. I don't know about you other parents but my son's rarely answer my phone calls but send a text and they answer. I mean what's up with that. As well before I can answer their response they are sending more texts. LOL kids. I don't care for the swype thing with texting and hate the touch screen and the auto correct. So a couple of weeks ago I decided I was through with the smart phone and wanted a more old school cell phone, if you can even call a cell phone old school. So I got a Samsung Restore. It's the slide phone with a physical keyboard. I could not be any happier with my new phone. No auto correct and I find I am making less mistakes with it. So no more smart phone for me, I really don't think they are all that smart lol.

And I am old school, don't particularly like cell phones but do see the need for them as there are no longer any public telephones around. I do still have my landline as well.

I agree, a smart phone isn't always that smart. It has taken me quite a while to get used to mine but I am happy with it.

I think you can disconnect the autocorrect. I love my iPhone 6s. My son's call all the time, but I do the texting when they are at work. The secretaries answer their phones, and they are too busy to talk when I call their cells.

I don't know what I would do with a smart phone. I want only the basic talk to me phone. I don't text and my kids know it. I do only when forced to, but I don't have a keyboard, I have the letters with the numbers so it takes me forever to figure out where all the letters are and then get them into a word and send a decent text. Normally takes me about five minutes for each text and that's a two or three word text. Forget anything longer than that.

I hate texting too but I guess it's a necessary evil, at least to get in touch with my kids it seems.

No cell phone for us. I have one - in a drawer - for emergency if we have tornado - that's about it.I always say I'm not important enough for a cell phone.

Most of the young prefer texting, I am old and just a phone call will suffice.

I agree with you about the auto correct, its an annoying feature, but you can toggle it off. I haven't figured out how to do that on my cell yet, but 1 day I'll take a minute and play with it and get that done. Our son doesn't have a landline at his home, he only uses his cellphone, so he takes calls as well as makes them. Texting is usually a little easier and less obvious when he's working, which I like.

I also have a landline cos I'm old school and I have to have it. I love my new phone and it's easy to use and fairly easy to figure out. And I have my son to help with the things I can't find or figure out. But no more smart phones for me.

i don't text, folks learnt that early'n. 'n the phone i currently 've, i can't e'en read what texts folks attempt to send, which usually don't e'en show'p 'til 'fter that person actually calls me. my only desire fer a smarter phone's a good camera. seems like a good mix to me coz folks think i've gotta be accessible 24/7 'r they panic. the camera part'd save me (hopefully) from missin' some great shots whilst my canon camera's indoors protected by the weather. glad'ja were able to find a phone that suited yer needs :D

I am not fond of texting either but if it 's the only way my sons respond then I guess it is what it is. Yes I love my new phone, so more smart ones for me.

I have an old dinosaur phone like that and it's easy for me to text which is what I do more than actually use it for calls. I dont' know if I'd want to use one of those newer ones with auto correct

My husband had a smartphone but he never goes online. I don't know why we're paying for it. I go online on my phone occasionally but I much prefer my laptop. I would gladly go back to a simple phone. The main reason I bought a Samsung was that I wanted a good camera on the cell. I was tired of carrying my big camera.
