What are you doing to prepare for the future?
Let's say you wake up one morning and you are told that the currency has been devalued and is practically useless. Have you done anything to prepare for that?
Let's say there is a fire or some other disaster and everything you own has been destroyed. Have you done anything to prepare for that?
Do you have anything on this topic that you can share with us?
How are you preparing for the future?

One thing I have done is, I have been as kind and caring with everyone that I have met and dealt with. I think that is good preparation for all eventualities.
I have also used my life in service to God and his son Christ Jesus and I thing that too counts for something.

* Proverbs 22:3 New International Version (NIV) 3 The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and pay the penalty.
* Luke 16:1-9 New International Version (NIV) The Parable of the Shrewd Manager
16 Jesus told his disciples: “There was a rich man whose manager was accused of wasting his possessions. 2 So he called him in and asked him, ‘What is this I hear about you? Give an account of your management, because you cannot be manager any longer.’
3 “The manager said to himself, ‘What shall I do now? My master is taking away my job. I’m not strong enough to dig, and I’m ashamed to beg— 4 I know what I’ll do so that, when I lose my job here, people will welcome me into their houses.’
5 “So he called in each one of his master’s debtors. He asked the first, ‘How much do you owe my master?’
6 “‘Nine hundred gallons of olive oil,’ he replied.
“The manager told him, ‘Take your bill, sit down quickly, and make it four hundred and fifty.’
7 “Then he asked the second, ‘And how much do you owe?’
“‘A thousand bushels of wheat,’ he replied.
“He told him, ‘Take your bill and make it eight hundred.’
8 “The master commended the dishonest manager because he had acted shrewdly. For the people of this world are more shrewd in dealing with their own kind than are the people of the light. 9 I tell you, use worldly wealth to gain friends for yourselves, so that when it is gone, you will be welcomed into eternal dwellings.

I think that being kind to others will pay back, as will trusting in God. He will see us through in amazing ways, some of which I have experienced.
Other than that, knowledge is the one thing that will sustain us in any situation. Know your wild foods, learn how to make and make do, understand your body and what it needs, memorize scripture and facts so you will have them when you need them.

Good ideas! I like the one about wild foods. Dandelion roots are available all year round and practically anywhere.

I have never forgotten the struggles I went through in my life.
Everyday is a challenge for me still though I enjoy the moments too.
I have realized from personal experience happiness need not be associated with wealth.
So enjoy the moments and be thankful for the blessings is my credo
These should serve me well, I hope - siva

Yes, wealth is not a an important key to happiness. However, while I might enjoy the moment, I am also concerned with enjoying each tomorrow too and therefore I think of and prepare for the best tomorrow possible.

I have some insurances, and they may help in many cases. But the safest insurance is to be friends with God, He is able to restore even our life, if we lose it.
In the future he will let all who obey him live for ever. The earth will be a wonderful place, just as he planned in the beginning.

True! Still, some preparation can be done, like having insurance, having some savings, etc.

In preparing for my future, I am giving all my best in my studies as a student to be able to reach the goals I wanted to aim. Another, become an optimistic in life. :)
