A Fish Bone Stuck On My Throat !

This actually happened last Sunday evening , while we were having dinner .
Hubby bought a variety of fish , after many years of not having eaten that. He cooked it in it in vinegar , garlic and pepper , which we call in our dialect as “paksiw” .
So , I readily ate one . In my eagerness since it was delicious , I forgot to chew it so well so I can feel if there are bones , and spit the bones out , as I always would do when eating fish .
When I swallowed it , I felt a bone stuck on my throat .
I ate a big slice of banana as my in-laws and hubby directed me . But still it was there .
I went to the sink and tried getting it out by inserting my finger to get it , to no avail.
Good thing it doesn’t hurt much , but I can feel it even before I went to sleep.
I just prayed that when I wake up it would be gone . In the morning it was indeed gone . Thank God !
I was in high school when I first experienced this .
Have any of you ever experienced this ?

@just4him Here, that's what we do . We swallow a chunk of banana so it can go with it when it passes through the throat . It is effective as i have experienced before . But not this time though .
I also did that , inserted my finger but it seems the tiny bone really got stuck much .

This is the reason why most groceries in the US and Australia got their fish filleted. Milk fish is very notorious for being bony but we dont stop eating them because it is delicious....
not a fan of paksiw though. I will rather eat cupcakes made of cricket.

Good for US and Australia that their fishes are filleted .
I like milk fish the deboned one , marinated well and deep fried .
What i ate was hito . I will not eat hito ever again .
So you don't like paksiw . It's delicious , specially paksiw na lechon .

@SIMPLYD As a dip or marinade I can handle it but I hate things simmered in vinegar. boiling vinegar is like gas chamber poison to me.

@Asylum Actually , what i ate for lunch today was anchovies . At least that one has very small bones if ever there are any.
Besides , from now on i won't eat that fish , we call hito or eel , i guess in ENglish . Hubby shall not be buying that anymore .

I experience it most of the times when I am having milkfish on the table. I think their bone is soft but still it hurts. Whenever I feel it in my throat, I just drink plenty of water. As much as possible, I just put the milkfish in another plate. I do not place it beside my rice so I can see clearly if there are bones in what I am eating.

@annierose Bulig , i don't know that fish ir maybe have seen it but don't know it's named like that .
I love fried hito just like my daughter and husband . Maybe i still would eat one when it's fried . Actually , there were fried ones along with that dish , but i love paksiw so i first had a taste of that.

I only like milkfish that were already deboned and marinated like that sold in supermarkets .
I can't see those bones anymore specially at night , when i don't use my reading glasses . So i just feel them with my tongue and would take it out when i feel one .
This one was hito . And it was with lots of bones . I will never eat one again .

Yes indeed. But some here said it was true to them when they eperienced this also. It could just be coincidence.

@SIMPLYD You reminded me that one time I read that the Queen of England had a bone stuck and had to go to the hospital. :)

Happy that it is not there. Sometimes this kind of accident could be quite serious.

I think most people have experienced it.Some people choose to swallow some dish or rice to carry the bone away when they have it stuck, but in vain and on the contrary it sticks deeper. Now we all know that the best way to get rid it is to take a mouthful of water ,raise your head and gargle ,then fiercely spit the water out.More often than not , the water would bring the bone out.

Yes, you are correct , it seems it sticks deeper when i did those .
Now, i know what to donext time , with your tip of gargling with the water while the head is raised. Thank you for this additional tip .
But i guess, from now on i will debme my fishbefore eating just as @LadyDuCk does .

hahahaha, you are so funny friend, you extract the bone using your finger. Yes, me too experienced it many times hehehehe, banana cannot push, so painful. I went to the doctor for the bone was too sharp to feel. The doctor removed it using an instrument. After that, I always check the fish of bony or not.

Yes, i really inserted my finger to extract it but it was really stuck well. I was already nearly vomiting when i inserted my finger ha ha ha . But maybe had i vomited it would be dislodged , don't you think so too?
So the doctor etracted it with an instrument. Maybe he used a plies.

sometimes, and i recall a funny action that my late parents taught us: put a piece of the fish bone on the top of your head 'because the bone will be extracted by the fish bones on the top of your head--- (sort of pulling effect')

Yup, aside from eating bananas, I also swallow a teaspoonful of unchewed rice with water.
My mother also instructed me to let our cat massage on the neck part where the fishbone is.
