Be Careful What You Leave Behind

A day or two ago I had an idea for a post but then it slipped my mind and I couldn't think what it was. I exchanged comments about this with Cruz @Tierkreisze whose post I Forgot What I Was Supposed to Say.. spoke of forgetting what he wanted to write about.
Then a comment by Valerie J. Routhieaux (@just4him) on my discussion about Mozart and scatology brought my potential post back to mind. Valerie and I spoke about being careful what we left lying around after we died.
Some years ago we went to a yard sale at a local church. Among the items being offered was a set of quite nice men's golf clubs. We ended up buying these and taking them home. We think they must have been from a deceased estate as it looked like someone had put the bag down after a game and never gone back to it. In the bag was an old score card and a pair of socks and a few other bits and pieces .
So Vin was taking everything out and came across a brown paper bag right at the very bottom. In the paper bag was an triple X-rated (and then some) magazine. I wonder it didn't set the whole lot on fire! We wondered if the contents had been too much for the owner and he'd had a heart attack. It is probably a good thing that the guy's wife didn't clean out the bag before putting it up for sale.
So - be careful what you leave lying around that you wouldn't want anyone to find when you pass on!
The photo is of a fringed lily (wildflower) from the local golf course.

Naughty naughty habit that gentleman must have had.
And he choose that over he game of golf!
My Dad bought a large barrel of screws and fittings at an auction sale once, and buried in it was a large sum of money. He contacted the estate and advised them of it, because it was a large sum, and he figured that in the haste of getting things ready for the auction this was missed. They were very thankful that he brought it to their attention.

That is one kind of a skeleton in the cupboard!
With so many user id and password, I do not know where to keep them safe.
When computers breakdown, I am afraid to discard them.
Golf bag could be the place then, so I better start playing the game! siva

But on the other side, at least we got to know a little something about who used to own that bag.

@Tierkreisze We should write a 'journal' or story about ourselves for people to find but only put in the good things!

@JudyEv Maybe we can leave behind things that tell us about our personalities when we die? What do you think?

Sounds like he found a hiding place that his wife would never find.

It certainly does sound like that. And we'll never know who he was so it's all good.

Haha that is some twist! It sounded a bit grim when you spoke of a "deceased estate" and a left-behind golf club and a brown paper and everything....and suddenly BOOM!! like a bomb shell comes the magazine! What they say is true I guess, one can never be too careful.

@JudyEv - Ms Judy - Reading this fun posting brought me some smiles and some "relief." I am in luck. I do not play golf. My old girlfriends were all illiterates so that I have no stacks of letters anywhere. Also, I am way too ugly to have any others hanging around. My reputation, as sorry as it is, should be secure. I guess I will be in good shape unless my bride decides to cruise among my several postings here and there. Not too worried as to that. She does not like computers.

That's true - so at what point do you decide to get rid of stuff you don't want found?

It would reveal so much about a person! ha ha ha! Thanks for the advice; some people really think they can be here eternally and be so careless. God bless his soul!

We never know when it's our turn which makes it hard sometimes to leave things in order.

Interesting find. Not something that ever made it into my golf bag.
