@Dramista No wonder the academic system fails so many people. But it's difficult to use personal learning tactics for every person, since the general method of studying and cramming... Plus that methods helps weed out the gold from the chav in terms of "knowledge." Or at least that from what I understand is the idea, since as we all know of the smartest and most successful people are high school and college drop outs.

Focus on yourself.
If someone is better than you ask them how they do it. If by some chance they are a genius and it comes natural to them them observe what they do.
Dissect their technique, use it and improve on it until you are their equals or their betters. :)

By example, I think. Children take on with what interest me passionately and see me learning, acting on what I learn, being productive with good beneficial results, and at the same time they see me very happily enjoying what I do.
Whatever influence I want to be on my children, they're the things that will make them think for themselves on what they value and want to do in life.
