Life is such a crazy quilt

I am tired from just a bit of weeding and watering and tossing the ball to Sally pup.
Such a crazy quilt; time chunks : quilt blocks.
On one quilt block I lived in a big city in a trailer that needed to be taken to the dump yesterday. I worked in the back office of a Veterinarians then and raised a daughter with my husband.
Another quilt block: smell the Puget Sound water; feel its salty life; hear the cormorants as they settled onto the ferry pier. Weary old clunker cars and daughter older and blackberry bushes and worry about exactly what food would go in our mouths. Hubby working on his master's degree. Me walking woods trails with my Mom and tearooms.
Another quilt block: Eastern side of the state. Small town life. Gardening. Tea time in the garden. Adopting too many primitive dressers and such cause I love old wood. Just hubby and me by then; he working a decent job, bringing in real money. Raised us above the poverty level. Generations of fur kids.
And here: three weedy acres. Aging. Back crooked and more crooked. Laying to rest fur persons. Birds. Gardens. A burro named Peter cause we have the room and I must face what I did to my knee and spine when I crashed that horse.
Below it all the crazy quilt of poetry. Always poetry. Some published in that other; that seaside other. Now more winging out into little presses even though I physically moved. My heart didn't.
And I wonder how long will we stitch this quilt block? A set of five more years here? Will it be less? I can't imagine walking the average house lot. I've finally settled into a few acres. But age may force me into that smaller fabric. Poetry will ease me along where ever I go.

Well done! Poetry, whether read or written by ourselves tends to slow the thought process down a little, bring some peace to hectic hours, make bad news recede a bit, like a wave that crashed on our shore, but washes back into the larger ocean.

Always see the beauty wherever you are - whether it's three acres or the microcosm in a window box. You taught me that.

@Rohvannyn Thank you. I'm glad you got something from me. I do worry at times that I've left you with little of value. At least you are addicted to cats.

Thanks @celticeagle We've just made hotel reservations for Oregon. Could be the next stitch in another quilt piece.

@sallypup that all depends too! A huge home with horrid layout is worse than a small home with good layout. shade, location, can make a difference too

@Jessicalynnt Such decisions! What is a decent sized lot and what about the house the lot sits on?

@Jessicalynnt You are right. I tend to want an open floor plan with tons of windows. Guess I was a cat in another life.

Hmmm, you had me musing there along with you. Quilt blocks of life, I'd have enough to make more than one quilt probably if I shared all the place where I've moved in the past. Not sure I could do it so eloquently, though.
This was suggested to me earlier, maybe by Valerie, although I'm not sure who exactly.

@just4him I figured it out eventually, just didn't change that portion of the comment. It was one of the better ones suggested to me.

I think I have found my quilt block lot that could be just the right size. I could stand to reclaim the vacant home next to me, but I believe someone is holding on to it, as we hold on to old linens and china, not from need but from remembrance.

@gardengerty: poetry. Your response is pure poetry. That would be lovely if you could reclaim that bit of land lace. (A long, long time ago I knew an old man who "borrowed" the lot next to his house. He raised huge stands of flowers for his wife there.)

@shivamani10 Thank you for your question. It wakes me and makes me think. Poetry is my link to that Other; the Creator, the One who Is. Through poetry, I breathe, feel, wonder, stretch, see, experience. I am not sure if this is an answer for you or not. My soul is not nourished by the average church pew so I kneel in this Other cosmos.
