My internet speed is now over 12MBPS

I mentioned yesterday that, because of loyal patronage, I was upgraded by my telecom service provider from my monthly subscription plan of 3MBPS to 15MBPS and data allowance from 50GB to 150GB.
I checked my internet speed twice today and I found out that my internet speed had indeed gone up to over 12MBPS. So, the telecom service provider fairly made good its promise to increase my interest speed and I'm happy with it.
Now, all I have to do is wait for the chromecast device that they will be sending which could be attached to the HDMI port of my TV to be able to view movies for free.
(A friend told me this morning that Telstra has renewed its intention to come into the country to be the third big player in the telecom industry.)

12MBPS is quite good! I hope that speed will continue even after a month, because I have a friend who also had theirs upgraded but it was only like a promo. The first month was good, but after that, they had the worst connection until they opted to have it cut and transferred to another service provider.

I had 1MBPS speed before and was upgrade to 3MBPS but only got about 2, more or less. Being offered the 15 and getting between 10 and 12 would be good enough. And no, this is not just a promo bbut a real upgrade because I'll be on a lock-in for 2 years. That would be fine with me because I don't like to change numbers. My Globe subscription has been way since it was still Islacom in 1997. I've been with Smart mobile for 13 years too and had received 6 free phones already from them. My 7th will be coming up in March next year.

@sunrisefan no, what I mean is, the speed is just like a promo - good at the start then became bad after a month.
I hope i will not be like that.
You really are a loyal subscriber. Hihi! It's good if they really improved their service.

@SIMPLYD Yes, Ms. LT, I availed of early retirement in 2007 but I had then worked for 32 years. When I retired, I was asked to do the purchasing of materials for our Gawad Kalinga housing project and also to help the project manager oversee the prospective beneficiaries who were contributing their sweat equity. I also served as a director in the cooperative - that's why I was able to go places like Thailand and South Korea , aside from other places in the country, to attend forums. I also served as chairman of the TWG which oversaw repairs and construction of branches. Even when I was still employed, I was already serving in church and continue to do so till now. All these activities kept me busy.

@sunrisefan Yeah that's correct specially it has high speed internet connection with cheaper price, but I know PLDT has 3500 a month = 100mbps.

@sunrisefan Here in Australia, we have about half a dozen providers.. It's even more affordable now because of the competition..
And yes I noticed that Smart has better coverage when we were there last Feb..But if Telstra decide to set up there, more employment for the locals..

I hope so but even if Telstra has not set up yet, Globe and Smart have began upgrading and improving their services.I just hope these are sustained.

@epiffanie Yes, generally, competition is good for consumers or end users. How's the performance of Telstra in Australia?

That's what a friend heard on TV. I did not see it myself. I'm even wondering how would they go about the entry when there's no more available frequency because it's already with Globe and Samrt. BTW, you have new avatar hehehe!

That is the bitter reality indeed, my friend. I wish government would have a monitoring body that need not wait for customer complaints but see to it that the customers are always given what they paid for.

The increased speed is due to the stiff competition and the possible entry of another telecom player.

I'm asked to pay a little amount more (P300) but I think I still made a very good deal :) The additional amount is just a quarter of what I currently pay but the increase in speed is 5 times and the data allocation is tripled.

My 15MBPS speed may be fast for me but I'm sure your speed (even if it's Greek to you ) up there in the U.S. is much faster than ours here in the country. I just hope our telcos here continue to improve services.

@DianneN Yes indeed, Ms. Dianne. Hopefully, our services should improve more if there's competition. For many years, it has been a "duopoly" in our country (only 2 big companies providing telco services).

I'm not sure if Telstra is really coming because they backed out last time. Besides, the free fequencies were already sold by San Miguel to Globe and Smart for 70 Billion. Big, big money. Ramon Ang must be laughing on his way to the bank hehehe!

I hope they will upgrade you too anytime soon, my friend. I used to have 1MBPS too and then, they upgraded me to 3MBPS with only an addtional of P5. It pays to have a long patronage history to be able to be offered benefits.
