Waiting to get married

I wish I had waited till I was 25 to 30 before getting married. I believe I would have understood more what being married meant. It's not all about me and it's not all about you. My job as a marriage partner is to put you first, and the husband's responsibility is to put me first so that we both feel loved and looked after.
I would have been more ready to be a mother when I am older. I would have earned a degree in the field I wanted to work in, and I would have given my daughter a more secure life with ONE father and NOT any steps to hurt her while I toil away at my job. I would have chosen wisely for the husband to best complement me and my future child.
I married at 17 and was 18 the next day. I was still very much a teenager with no idea about marriage or motherhood. I was a good mom but so much got passed me because I worked so many double shifts. My daughter needed me, not the money I brought in, but I didn't know that then.
Kim thanks God for giving me to her. I do the same. Lord I am so blessed.![](/Content/images/emotes/happy.gif)

Good for you. Some are happily single. No one's life is cut in stone.

I agree totally. I didn't know squat when I married. I was very immature.

Unfortunately many feel that same way. Though I was 20, I was still very immature, I know if I waited I would have been a better mother and wife.

Getting married young works for some people, but I was 25 and my husband 34 when we married. It's lasted 51 years so far, so that worked for us. Every case is different though.
I'm sorry that it didn't work for you, and that you weren't able to spend more time with your daughter when she was a child.
