Long Fingernails

While going through notifications today, Sanna_S ( @psanasangma ) had a little post about long fingernails. I found the comments to be interesting and it gave me the idea to write a post about it. I have always had long fingernails. Some will say that I'm lucky that they just grow naturally and are strong. Some ask--how do you type with those things? Well, I'm used to it. I can't type well when one of them breaks off. There were comments about handing foods with long fingernails. I do wear gloves when I am making things such as meatloaf or hamburger patties. Raw meat under the nails is pretty disgusting. Some comments addressed keeping them clean underneath. I can tell you for sure that I have seen nasty nails, and they were short nails! I don't seem to have a problem keeping them clean. My nails were the center of attention every night while on the mission trip when we went to do Bible school. I had to just try not to let the children get too involved in my nails, but they sure were fascinated by how long they are. Are they real? Can we touch them? On our last day there we didn't have Bible school. We took that hike. One of the youth in our group while we were hiking up says to me "you sure do have some long nails, are they real?" I didn't think much of it, but soon realized he was joking with me. He told me he didn't want me to miss the Indian children too much. I actually love to paint my nails, but rarely take the time to do so. It's a time thing. In this picture I am modeling some purple nail polish that was given to me by Pat Anthony (who is also here on mylot). That is the length they normally with the exception that my pinky nail is currently twice as long as the one in the picture.
