Should have hidden them better...

I bought my first batch of Christmas presents last week, only a couple of bits for my youngest two, including a Lego Minecraft set for my son - when they were delivered I popped them straight into the downstairs cubby hole so the kids wouldn't see them when they got back from school that day. This weekend I've been laid low with a vile summer cold so the kids went to stay with their Nan, when they got back today I was dozing on the sofa and vaguely heard them playing hide and seek. Next thing I know my five year old was shaking me awake with the comment 'Mummy, you've been hiding something from me'. It took me a minute to understand, but yes - he's found his Christmas present! I thought the cubby hole was the perfect place to stash them as the kids NEVER go in there - like a softy I let him have it today, he had a fantastic school report on Friday so it can be a treat for that instead. I'll just need to be more careful where I hide the Christmas pressies from now on!

Kids do seem to find the presents we hide from them. Oh well a good school report deserves a gift also.

@chrisandmark Now all you have to do is to start looking for something different for Christmas and find a better hiding place. lol

Yes @Marcyaz - kids have a sixth sense for finding hidden presents, I don't mind as his school report was so good!

Oh well, atleast he is enjoying it! I think my parents and grandparents always put the toys under their bed or on top of their closet when we were children.

That's true @ScribbledAdNauseum - I suppose it's always better for a toy to be played with rather than being shoved in a cupboard!

I know @sallypup - my partner goes mad when I start buying so early (he doesn't complain when I'm saving him money in December though!)

It can be really hard to hide things from children. Never mind, at least you felt he had earnt it.

If I'm honest @JudyEv there are probably 101 better hiding places around the house, but it's definitely Sod's law that the first time he goes into the cubby hole in a year and it's when there's something hidden in there!

Certainly early. Kids will like to see what's in the Christmas presents. Have a wonderful week.

kids are clever. You cannot hide things from them. Cool what they made with it.
