Fresh Yeast

The chef at our usual hangout gave me a chunk of fresh yeast to use in my pizza dough-making and bread-making endeavors this week. He said that he has much better luck with it than with the active dry yeast in packets that you get at the grocery store. So now I have to do some research to figure out exactly how much of this stuff you use in the recipes that I already have been using for years. We shall see!

We spend plenty of money there. They still came out ahead giving us a chunk of yeast.

It was good of the baker to give you some fresh yeast. I hope it is successful. Home-made bread! Yum!

I always wanted to learn to make bread. I have seen some pieces of bread at the bakery that seem very nutritious.

Wow a yeast gift. Very nice. I've bought pound packets of yeast an on line place for years now. I sprinkle in two tablespoons of yeast for a double batch of dough. I put the main part of the yeast in the freezer and have a jar in the fridge for current yeast. Works great.

My mother always used cake yeast to make bread when I was a kid. It should be an interesting change for you.
