~I Felt Sad For Her~

Another discussion reminded me of what happened last night. It was late, my husband and I were sitting outside talking and he noticed something next door in the grass moving. He told me to look but I don't have good vision far away. He and I both got up to get a closer look and it was a woman laying in the grass. She was homeless and we knew that right away.
I told my husband to ask her if she was hungry. She said she was so we made her a plate of food. My husband wanted to invite her inside to eat but I told him, we don't know her and we have kids to think about as well. So he handed her the plate outside.
As he talked with her for a while he realized she wasn't mentally here. She was talking about her visit to outer space and she told my husband she once was married to him.
It was sad. She stays at the Catholic charities down the road but she said she was sneaking out last night. When my husband walked back outside to give her a drink she was gone...
I hope she got back to where she was staying safely...

@Dramista Sorry about that. It's a reality for a lot of people sadly.

@LovingMyBabies Yeah, the truth can be quite painful that is why most people try to avoid it :)

@JudyEv I hope she will be okay too. We have been homeless before and hungry-we can't ever just not help when we are able to.

@LovingMyBabies Having been there yourself would give you more empathy for her but the rest of us need to try to develop that too.

Your kindness is probably a blessing. I have heard and read that many people who at one time were in community based services ended up on the streets when laws were passed that said they could not be forced to take medication or stay in shelters. It is a mixed up and conflicting problem. I agree, I hope she got back safely.

@GardenGerty I hope she got back okay as well and I hope she can get the help she really needs. It's so sad.

I hate seeing homeless people living on the streets. I see there in NYC and it is not a pretty site. And everyone just walks right by them as if they are not there. How sad is that. This country should be ashamed of itself for having any homeless people.

@LovingMyBabies That was a nice thing to do. But they have to do more for the homeless here in this country. Like I said, there is too much greed here. Horrible. I am sure lots of homeless people would love an opportunity to become useful again, get a job or be trained for one. That would have to be done for free, since they don't have money to get ahead. And I see nothing wrong with that. Now, I am not saying all of them are capable. But I am sure most are to function again. All they really need is a chance.

@inertia4 I hate seeing the homeless people as well, it is so heart breaking. When I was a teenager my youth group would go into New York City and give the homeless PB&J sandwiches that we made for them. They were so grateful and happy just for those.

@magallon We just like helping others when we can. Feeding the homeless is what Jesus tells us to do.
We have also been homeless a few times ourselves so we know how it feels. Thank you.

What a predicament. It´s good that she left the place and hopefully, she will go back to her own place.

Bless you for blessing her with food. Not everyone would help. It makes me cry to think of homeless people hungry and no place to lay their heads.
