150$ Dollars for a carton of eggs???

This is almost like a really bad nightmare, In Venezuela a carton of eggs now cost 150$ and the hunger and poverty is only getting worst due to inflation. This is scary because Venezuelas citizens are literally going hungry due to the fact that they cant afford to even buy the cheapest of foods. One woman declared the last time she actually ate chicken was in December and that she has been surviving on eating rice by itself so she wont go hungry. This is alarming and scary, simple things like milk, eggs, corn, are becoming to expensive to purchase and people are literally going hungry in Venezuela while the country continues to collapse...

That is a real bad situation. Eggs I thought are the cheapest protein available to man.

The richest man on the planet Bill Gates advised we need to raise chickens because it would solve the world's problem. He calculated how much a chicken farmer can get every year with a typical five hen start-up. Here's the link for his complete analysis.
Learn about how chickens change lives and I’ll donate a flock of chicks in your honor.

I didn't know that Venezuela had a problem that was so bad and people couldn't afford to buy food any longer. What is the problem there?

Their is a food shortage going on in Venezuela and also the Bolivar fuerte wich is their currency has dropped by 60 percent. Their money is devalued and since their is a food crisis all the prices on food have sky rocketed while their currency is pretty much worhtless now making simple things like eggs very pricey

The only way I can think of to survive in Venezuela then, would be to steal an egg, sitting on it, and getting money from the chicken's eggs. That or using dollar bills as tissue paper because it's cheaper.

@BACONSTRIPSXXX Now that is really bad. But if civil unrest is better than starving, then why not? Maybe changing the government might be better if it fails to serve it's citizens.

Not even in a "rich" country would anyone pay that much for a carton of eggs - that is insane. How very scary for the people there. Oh gosh, eating only rice (if they even have rice) is definitely not nutritious.

@BACONSTRIPSXXX I feel kind of mean but I am sticking to it. I've finally stuck our newest hens in their coop and a little covered run. No more free range hens- something was having dinner on our behalf. Nope. These little ladies are under lock and key. At least they get outside.

That is what I do not like. When they try to make people dependent on people on the top. They say government is always the problem, but have a feeling corporations have moved passed the government. Even here we have people who are not farmers, but have their own chickens and tiny gardens to at least help offset the cost of corporate greed. People need to stop listening to the people on top if it does not do anything for their lives.
