I found a writing job in a freelancing site. Luckily ( as I see it) I got a message from the client and the interview started until she(assumed) told me to write my first article. I did write and send it to her before the deadline. She was satisfied with the article as she said so until asked me again to do another and another. Although, I did notice that we haven't discussed about how I get payed, I still continue the articles(400-1000 word count) she asked me. Until on my 7th article, I asked her that I cannot make it, she just said its alright and that's her last word. I sent her messages but got no reply for 2 weeks now. I guess, I just have to charge it to experience.
Did you have the same experience like unpaid jobs? Client's whom didn't pay you?

So far i have been lucky enough not to get cheated. I usually check my client's track record before applying for the job. And now with several years of experience behind me i do demand an advance payment first. I am sorry that this happened to you. Good luck!

As a newbie in the business, I just grab the opportunity I had. Is it ok when I ask for advance payment? I really don't feel like I should for the status I have.

@cromainer I can understand your position. Yes its true that clients will only offer advance payments to experienced writers. Its okay if you accept work at once but as @rina110383 said you need to verify your clients first. That will not be a problem i guess.

Haven't been scammed. I've been with Upwork since October 2015. All my hourly & fixed projects were paid. I only accept interviews or offers with clients who have verified payment methods. It's a guarantee that I'll be paid for every project I'll submit.

Yes, lesson learned. Verified clients profile first. Thanks for the tip.
