In the past, I often loved watching Bill Engvall. Especially his, "Here's Your Sign" skits. Some of the stupid things that come out of the mouth of a person can be pretty hilarious. And then I found myself that person. *Warning: Do not read further if the talk of breasts and feeding, especially those two words compounded together, offends you!* I was talking to a friend and said, "Sometimes I feel trapped by breastfeeding. There are times I wish I could just un-screw my breasts and just hand them to the baby." My friend looked at me and said, "That would be a bottle, Genipher." Oh. Right. Someone give me a sign! Have you ever been in a position to be given a sign? C'mon, don't be shy...share your embarrassing stories with us all! Wanna here some funny Here's Your Sign stories? Listen/watch here:

Ha ha ha!! Too funny! However, my response would be that the advice giver ought to try it prior to dispensing such a sign. I would not need to tell you, mamma of six, the agony of missing even one feeding, particularly in the earlier stages. I am assuming your comment was a desire for a short hiatus, a deserved break, a mere few precious hours to yourself occasionally? You were not thinking of serving 'fast food' all the time! Sheesh! The body keeps producing, whether you want it to or not. BTW, kudos to you and all mammas that are willing to put up with the challenges of feeding baby, au naturel!

Thanks. You've got it spot-on. I've tried bottles, off and on. My kids refuse to take them. Well, at least they refuse until they're about 3. And then for some strange reason, they want to drink everything out of a bottle.

@Genipher hey, can you blame them? I couldn't nurse long enough for mine to become choosy connaisseurs, but I've heard the same from other mommies....

@sulynsi Don't get me wrong...I'm not saying I nurse until they're 3. They're usually weaned by 1.5 years old. But my 3-year-old, for some reason, likes to drink almond milk and water out of a baby bottle.
