Baby, It's Cold Outside

We have been having colder and colder weather here lately to the point where we've been staying in bed much longer than we normally would. Now I know our 'cold' is very tame compared to the cold some of my friends here endure but for us, well, it was still cold. Some towns were even down to a minimum of -3 degrees Celsuis! Imagine that! However, although it was so cold I was up early enough to see the frost and thought you might enjoy seeing this photo which Vince took. We have been hanging more picture rails today and I should have a photo of the finished wall soon. We're having the white frames on a dark wall and the one we've put up looks good.

@crazyhorseladycx 109? That's terrible! Our schools close up if the temperature gets to x (can't remember what exactly) but I don't know if any of the trades stop work. It would be unbearable if your husband is working outside handling metal. Inside would be bad enough.

I don't like triple digits. That's about when I'm really pleased that I don't work any more.

That's a great photo - makes me feel cold just looking at it. Has that plant received the attention of some rabbits or kangaroos? It looks as if it has.

Yes, the 'roos have nipped off the leaves. It looks like what we call a dandelion which is slightly different from the English one although we have them too. It's hard to tell when it's covered in ice. :)

I love the picture and the little drops of water. It's pretty cool. I wish I could take pictures like that. I look forward to seeing your wall with the pictures.

I like the drops of water too. I should go and take a photo of the wall although we need to get a couple more photos framed before the wall is 'finished'.

I still find it interesting to read posts about how cold it is when our average temps are in the 90s (F) However, I over slept this morning, not because it was cold outside, but inside. My husband installed a new ceiling fan and when it was on high, I was freezing and even on low it kept the room really cool.

@JudyEv Truthfully I would rather be hot than cold, probably because I love to swim, so I cna keep cool that way, whereas getting warm is harder for me.

@Carmelanirel2 I enjoyed the summers when we had a swimming pool. Even a very short swim cools you off much better than a cold shower.

It's good to have an efficient air-conditioner. I have a little blow-heater in here when it is really cold but it is too efficient too and I end up too hot. Sometimes you can't win!

-3 C is 26.6 F... Plenty cold enough for me to say Brrrrrrrr! LOL! We could trade you a bit of 98 degree F for a bit of your cold weather, but just for a little bit! LOL!

When I first saw your post, I was like "Where in the world is she at that it's cold? It's the middle of summer!" Then I remembered you are in Australia where it is winter right now! lol Would you like to trade the cold for the heat? We are having record-breaking heat here in the United States. I'll gladly send you our weather!

Phrases like 'Better the devil you know....' and 'be careful what you wish for' come to mind so I'll just put up with the cold thanks! We have a lovely warm fire in the evenings. It is SO tempting to move all the computer stuff into the lounge where the fire is!

Nice picture. Frosty! I'll be anxious to see your finished wall. Sounds very clever. I think I put a photo up of all my framed pictures that I have on my living room mantle above the fire place, but I can't remember. I'll have to put it up again.

@JudyEv I thought of that too. That I might have written it on BB. So how do you use the tags to find an old article? Do I go to Search?

@IreneVincent I got to Search then Tagged Discussions then put in 'kangaroo' or whatever. There was a lot of talk once about the value or not of tagging but I'm glad I did it now and find it useful in this respect.

That's quite the photo! Cold is relative. I don't mind 60F outside (16C) and can go out without a jacket as long as I'm moving around. My husband, on the other hand, finds this positively freezing. When he travelled for business to the East Coast, he was never warm in the winter.

As you say, it's all relative. When I first joined MyLot I started complaining about temperatures around zero then starting reading posts about snow being x feet deep and pipes freezing etc so I thought I'd better stop fussing.

@JudyEv I have sister in Alaska who sees temps near -30F (-35C) and a brother who lives in Arizona where the summer temps are routinely 100-105F (38-41C) so I can't complain to anyone about the weather I get.
