Does my lunch from today look tasty to you?

No, it did not come from a queasy cat. Nor did it come from the tushy of a 2-month-old baby. And it most certainly did not come from a demonically possessed 12-year-old girl sullying the clothes of a Priest. Or did it? I heard that pea soup was used at appropriate times in the classic movie, The Exorcist. I saw the move in an urban neighborhood, which meant there was a lot of "audience participation." It was a great time for a kid. My lunch today was actually a can of pea soup from Andersen's Pea Soup in Buellton CA. I stopped there and picked up a bunch of cans on my way to my cousin's wedding in LA. It really is excellent--about as good as pea soup gets. Did my post make you want to rush out and buy a can or two? The cost is only $2.50 per can. Buellton is on Highway 101, North of Santa Barbara CA. I've read that there's also an Andersen's on I-5, but I've never been there. Bon appetit!

I'll take a more...tasty looking...picture of the can later this evening. It really is delicious. I was laughing to myself about how nasty it looks when I first dump it out of the can this afternoon.

I just HAD to capture the...lack of beauty...when it first came out of the can. But it really is among the best pea soups I've ever had.

@JudyEv I couldn't help but chuckle when it first came out of the can. All I added was a touch of olive oil.

Not a fan of pea anything. I really only like home made soup anymore. But I definitely wouldn't be trying pea soup. I'm glad you enjoyed it though.

Had you smelled it in my kitchen, you might have been drawn to your demise. The smell of pea soup is kind of like a siren from the Odyssey.

@patgalca It was really good. We're going to have to get more when we head South to LA in a couple of weeks.

The picture of the soup does not make me want any. But I am sure it tasted good when done.

I reckon I was trying to be funny. It makes a horrible slurping noise as it drops from the can, and looks at first like a banana slug after an unfortunate encounter with a gastritis-stricken coyote. But after awhile, it starts to look like soup, and the aroma fills the kitchen.

I know where this place is because we ate at the Andersen's Pea Soup Restaurant during one of our trips to California. I think to remember that they have Dutch origins, but I am not sure.

Yes, there's a quaint town near there called Solvang, where they celebrate the (I think it is Dutch) heritage of some of the settlers.

leave't to ya to show the "ugly side" 'f canned pea soup, lol. since peas're a no-no fer me, i fear i'd need to pass. prolly's got gluten also, which'd go 'long with the peas to make me most ill. yepperz, i'll leave that canned schtuff to ya!

I love it too. I wish I'd bought more cans. If (like me) you're too lazy to make it from scratch, I recommend Andersen's.

14 Jul 16
@TheHorse Oh yea, making things from scratch tastes so much better (if you execute it properly) but it can be a pain in the butt. I do it every now and then but for the most part, yes, I'm too lazy.

@Angelee_27 Me too. We have a gig in LA in a couple of weeks. I'm going to demand that my band mates stop at Andersen's so I can pick up more.

Condensed cream of mushroom soup looks even worse at that stage of the game. It's more grey in colour and has dark bits. Something that maybe dropped out of some very large bird of prey.

I don't care what you say that is, pony! I think it really is something a stray cat coughed up! (Notice, I said stray cat, because I know you don't own a cat! You would have already sacrificed it for new strings on your guitar!)

I could tell it was soup of some kind. I did not think of pea soup. I have only had it a couple of times and that was home made. I think a can of good soup makes an excellent meal or two.
