MONSOON

Its that time of year again. The rains pour down incessantly, there's mist and fog everywhere; and we get sporadic sunshine. Yes! It's the monsoon in India. Lots of heavy rain, the rivers are swelled up, there are landslides, mud slides, flash-floods and general dampness everywhere. Even when there's sunshine, you don't go anywhere without an umbrella you don't wear flimsy footwear-durable, rubber shoes and gum boots replace chappals and fashionable shoes.
And yet, I love this season. Everywhere you look, you see new growth. The trees are rejuvenated; there is so much greenery everywhere! The air is cleaner than it was during the hot, dusty summer and when the clouds and mist/fog lifts! It's like God gave the Earth a much needed bath. Yes, you can't go anywhere without being drenched or becoming soaked at some point, and your clothes have a musty smell; travelling is somewhat hazardous especially in the hills, but man! The scenery is BREATH TAKING! In this sub-tropical climate, the monsoon is when nature really wakes up. Come and see for yourselves
