We went on a tour of the tiny homes in Colorado they are neat but not for us. Everything has its place and it is cheaper living.

I've only seen them on tv and I doubt I could live in something so small. I'd really like to see one in person

I would love to live in one! I lived in a 500 sq ft. apartment...and to tell you the truth, it is a whole lot better than living in a flat double that size.

I love to watch things like Tiny House Nation and see how innovative the builders can be. As for the trend, I've mentioned in various discussions that I think they're a "fad" that will fade away as people start families and realize they have no privacy for the kids (or from the kids), the notion that @crossbones27 mentioned (finding a place to park it, with more and more communities deciding to enforce laws that says there must be so much square footage per person in a "living space"), or other issues (I would imagine that a good stiff wind can blow one of those into the next county). Then they'll just be an extremely expensive white elephant. And I mean "expensive." Some of the tiny houses featured on the TV shows cost hundreds of thousands of dollars...for less than 250 square feet. Some of them are in the neighborhood of $1,500 per square foot. My house is small, not tiny (875 square feet or so), and it was less than $44 per square foot. Having said that, I do love the idea of making them for homeless veterans. Not all homeless veterans want to live on the street, they're just there because of a variety of circumstances (including the VA sitting on their claims...and yes, I love to remind people how incompetent and unfair to veterans the VA is with every opportunity I get).

I love it and would buy one myself, but most cities want no part of them. I was reading a blog of a person who owned one where it was allowed in the city and people had such disdain for them that people started vandalizing their property. Always about money with some. I am glad more people are seeing the benefits of them though. They are also starting to use them for the homeless in certain areas which is always good.

I think it is a wonderful idea. I am sure that they do not cost too much to make and at least restore some dignity in people down on their luck. It might be just the thing to give them a start in life again! I am very much pro this venture.

I think they are awesome!! I watch all of the Tiny House related shows on HGTV. Some cost as much or more than the house we are currently in. Some people re ingenious with materials and spend less than $10,000 to build. One of the shows we watched yesterday the gal turned a school bus into her home.
