My house smells of basil

Yes, I have been to the garden again today. I brought home some stems of basil to cook with and dry. Maybe I can get some roots to grow. Today for lunch I will be having squash that I have cooked. I will have an ear of corn as well. I am not sure about the protein source I will choose.Maybe cottage cheese. I will be making a salad of tomatoes, cucumbers, onions and just a tiny bit of jalapeno and maybe anaheim pepper. I will dress it with a vinaigretter dressing and crumbles of blue cheese and bacon and serve it tonight.Along with pulled pork on top of a garden potato. Are you harvesting any thing. I have to freeze more okra, too.

All sounds healthy! I have some basil growing in the kitchen - rosemary and parsley too. But we can't just eat those alone . Do you still have more of your purple/blue potatoes?

No, I gave a few away and then made a couple of potato salads and ate some just plain.I plan to order some online next spring. There were just six little seed potatoes when I got this package from Wal Mart for five dollars.

I am seriously thinking about starting a fall garden at my house. You do not get as warm as quickly as we do.

@koopharper There is a site called The Rusty Old Garden on FB. People share about their gardens and one thing often said is that there is always next year.

@GardenGerty No and we started even later than normal this year. We'll still get a good crop out of what we were able to plant.

Oh okra is so good when you have frozen it and then fry it up and eat it. It is good to go out to your garden and pick what you have harvested.

No garden so nothing to harvest. Your salad sounds good.

@GardenGerty Yes it is. There is nothing like a fresh garden salad. BTW - I think you had commented on my post about my camera before the picture. I deleted that post and there is a new one in its place. I haven't checked to see if you commented on the new post. I got an error message when I tried to post the first one that I didn't know it went through when I had posted the other.

I should eat like this all of the time as it would be good for my health, waistline, and billfold.

My garden is slow going this year. Very few cucumbers which is strange. Same with the squash/zucchini.

Are you having a lot of cooler weather than usual? That will slow them down.

I don't have time and also place to cultivate something here. actually it is really good thing to have something in home itself.

I wish I had a garden to harvest from. I really miss having a garden but just didn't have the needed motivation to get it going...or the money.

Here there are many people that grow the basil and I like the pleasant smell too.

Just made a post about my harvest today. I have pots of herbs lining my deck rail making it easy to have fresh herbs with every meal.

I always use basil in my homemade spaghetti sauce. I don't like oregano but I love the flavor of basil in my sauce.

I am more likely to use basil than oregano myself. I have read that it makes a great companion plant for tomatoes.

Our basil needs to be pulled out now. It doesn't survive our winters. Not sure why - they're not that bleak but basil doesn't like them.

No I have no garden, I just can't be bothered. I know that sounds awful but I do go to the farm stand and the farmers market.

Sweet garden results. Crazy not July weather here today. I've just started to harvest a few tomatoes. We also made some home applesauce.
