There is a city near Scottsdale, AZ called Fountain Hills that has a spewing Fountain of water that goes as high as 562 feet once every hour. The fountain runs 7 days a week for 15 minutes every hour from 9 am to 9 pm except on very windy days. There is a nice walkway and children can play near the walkway but not out in the water because it is reclaimed water. Fountain Hills is a very nice place to visit with lots of shopping malls and most of the homes there are beautiful as it is an exclusive area. It is fun to go and shop and then stop by and watch the fountain in all its splendor especially in the evening when it is lite up. I alway loved going to this area and shop and see the fountain. Picture from Wikepedia Thanks to @ilocosboy for reminding me about this from his fountain discussion.

I have visited Scotsdale in Arizona and my question about this fountain is "is the water wasted?". I thought that Arizona had to save water and not waste it.

@LadyDuck Great then you have seen what I was talking about. That evaporation is quite a lot when you think of it.

@LadyDuck It is reclaimed water so they are not wasting any water at all. Did you ever get out to Fountain Hills when you were in Scottsdale?

@Marcyaz Yes, I went to Fountain Hills. We also have a fountain with recycled water in the garden, it is incredible how much water is lost every day for evaporation, it's about the 10% of all the water used to create the fountain effect.

@bunnybon7 Thanks I always enjoyed taking a ride there and shopping at the mall there along with stopping by the fountain and seeing the water spraying so high. Brings back memories doesn't it?

How come the fountain does not function all day?

@rzwrites I would think it is because of the cost of maintaining it all day long.

Wow..that is interesting. I thought it was a natural one and wondered how can nature bless one place like that..and forget about other places. But I guess it is not natural, right? How are you doing?

I never visited the mountains there, but they looked kind of barren. Do folks go hiking and such there?

@TheHorse Yes people do go hiking there but you have to watch if it is in the summer time because of the heat.

That's neat. I take it Fountain Hills is a newer more affluent Phoenix suburb.
