Last Mortgage Payment

We did it. Today we paid our last mortgage payment. It seemed to take forever to get to this last payment.
It's ours, finally, fully ours. We don't owe any money to anyone anymore. Well, at least we don't owe any money for any house. In December we will be paying our last payment on our storage building and then we will be debt free.
It's a giddy feeling. We went out to breakfast after all of the paper signing and such. We took the former owner with us. She lives behind us on the next street.
Tonight we will be grilled a thick juicy rib eye for dinner in celebration. What a great day this is.

Congratulations! That has got to be the best feeling in the world! Last week, I just finished paying off my $50,000 truck. Never again will I buy a vehicle that expensive! lol My truck payment was as high as my mortgage payment! lol

@HazySue I'm getting ready to start looking to buy another house around December/January, and I'm really trying to find something very close to work, so that I can walk or bike to my office. Then I can get rid of my big expensive truck and use the money towards the house!

@moffittjc I know it certainly cost us less for gas when we moved closer to my work. It's actually a good plan.

That's really good, well done
I just rent so even getting a mortgage is beyond me
You must have a big sense of freedom, must be an amazing feeling that nobody can take your home off you.

@Mike107602 I think that next month when we don't have to make the payment is when we are really going to feel the freedom.

@HazySue I can only imagine the feeling but in my imagination I'd see it as the biggest achievement of my life.
Having my own, fully owned home is a big deal to me.
I'm not there yet but I am still in the game

The last mortage we paid was my husband's home in Jersey - we paid it off three years early - since then we've bought and sold 4 more homes all for cash...no mortgage here...
Congrats! Enjoy the freedom!

@AbbyGreenhill it was intended to be. We might keep it for my daughters to use when they come down to Florida or we might just sell it.

@AbbyGreenhill we only had the mort for 4 1/2 years because we made a large down payment and paid double each month. We will sell this house and move back to our other on about 45 minutes from here. We bought this one because we needed to live closer to my job. The commute was about to wear me down.

@LovingMyBabies it is an amazing feeling. That money that we made for mortgage payment each month will now go into our bank account.
