I've been hearing about the upcoming weather we're supposed to be getting, but when I checked this out for myself I really wonder if people are paying close attention. I know that there are warnings out for severe weather with high heat indexes, but when I looked at it tonight, I don't see anything similar to what people were saying about it for our area at all. Either they were watching the weather reports for another area of the country, or the forecast changed overnight. I heard that the temps this coming weekend would be in the low one hundreds with the humidity in the nineties. When I looked at the forecast for our area, it showed the humidity at 90-ish at six am, but the actual temps would only be about 68. On other days when the temps are expected to reach into the nineties, the humidity would be considerably lower. I'm guessing that the heat index will be in the hundreds and maybe because of that it will feel like the humidity is a lot higher than it will be. And here, I've been passing out wrong information. I should learn to check it out first before repeating the forecast. There are about twenty states where heat advisories are out, one of them being Wisconsin where Valorie lives. I'll try to remember to pray that everyone stays safe and can find some place to stay cool if they don't have air conditioning in their homes. What is the forecast heading your way for this weekend?

thankfully humidity's a rare thingy'n these parts. most'f july we've been beatin' the triple digits, the monsoon rains not e'er reachin' here. 's fer our weekend forecast? hot, 'breezy' 'n warnin' folks not to be out 'fter 10am, not e'en to peek a toe out 'til 'fter 8pm. e'en the cacti're beggin' fer relief.

@MarshaMusselman high plains 'f new mexico :) not quite's arid 's many parts'f arizona. still kinda depressin' to see the cacti wiltin', not a good sign since this's 'pposed to be our monsoon season. most'f our rainfall fer the entire year's 'pposed to come july/august. i hope that folks do take great care whilst they're out, particularly playin' sports. lots'f water'n electrolytes, frequent rests 'n gallons'f sunscreen. i'd not blame folks one bit fer seekin' some coolin' comforts outside'f their homes. tend to ferget that not'll a need fer a/c durin' the 'normal' summer months.

@crazyhorseladycx I've climbed some of the mountains in your state some years in the past. I hope people are smart when out and about too when it's this hot.

Sounds a tad like it can get near Arizona. I don't remember where you're from, but I can just picture the cacti around your parts dying of thirst, lol. While there is a heat advisory out, I don't think people are being warned to remain inside. Besides not everyone in our state has air conditioning. Some may need to leave and go shopping just to get a bit of respite. There are people in town for several baseball tournaments, I think. They're supposed to play all day all weekend long. I hope they are prepared and that no one gets heat stroke or whatever.

Forecast for this weekend.
Hmmm... It looks like we will be in for more of the same as we have been getting, Marsha. Thank goodness I am off work this weekend!

I work most weekends and at least we have air there. It's the traveling to and from work that's so hot since we have to wear uniforms and I don' thave air in my car any more as it's so old.

@MarshaMusselman You could dress in shorts and a tank top to drive to and from work, then change clothes in the restroom once you arrive in the air conditioning. I've seen a lot of people doing that who don't own a car with air conditioning. When Pretty and I went car hunting this last time, I told her I don't care about any other features the car we buy has, but it must have working air or I don't want it!

@DaddyEvil I need something that can support a roof rack for ladders. Our van had working air, but a few years ago it needed some major fixing which I didn't want to pay especially since it's almost twenty years old. We have had to replace all the tires over two years, and do other major things to keep it running, but thankfully we've not had any transmission nor engine troubles or that would force us to purchase a newer vehicle before we're financially able. A few people at work do come in shorts and light-weight shirts, but I already arrive earlier than I want just to have time to take my meds and play a small game or two. I'd not want to leave that much earlier plus I'm usually not overly hot while driving with the windows down,

We have arrived at the weekend. It is Sunday and compared to the last few days it is a little cooler. Predicted high of 93. More important to me is that the overnight temperatures were cooler. I never really believe most of what I hear because it all depends on which station you watch.

I don't bother watching the weather on TV, but I tend to hear reports of expected forecasts while working. They are the ones that were giving out misinformation. I take what I read online, or when I do happen to catch the weather on tv, which is rare, with a grain of salt, but it does give us something to prepare for anyway. With this hotter weather, I'm trying to remember to wear a hat more often to minimize effects from harmful rays. I've never had any type of cancer or related illnesses and would like to keep it that way. Knowing ahead of time what the weather might be will allow people to remember their sunscreens, plenty of water or related liquids and other things. It would hopefully also encourage those with illnesses or the elderly to stay out of the heat.Someone told me there were several heat-related deaths that could have been side-stepped had people heeded the heat warnings. Having cooler temps does make a nice difference. Currently, we're having a day of gentle rain, which will help the grass and gardens of any type and much needed around here.

Is that normal for this time of year, Patsie or not? We've had higher temps a lot when I was young, but when we're young it doesn't seem to matter as much. I have to remember to start taking a hat when I work outside. It will make me hotter, but will protect my scalp from too much sun exposure. Stay cool on your side of the country.

@Hatley Our high two-digit weather is normal for August too, but the past several years it's been all around and not the usual months. For instance, one year we had the higher temps in the spring and then in July, August is was fairly cool, but then it could heat up again after that. One never knows anymore how hot or cold it will get during any given month.

Not just sometimes, but many times. But, at least we have a general idea of what to expect in order to prepare better.

Most of the time I do not believe what I hear, I prefer to check personally. We are under a heat wave now, it's very humid with the temperature near 90. We expect a thunderstorm tomorrow.

We are supposed to have a bit of rain tomorrow morning too, but the last two times rain looked to be a definite thing, it passed our area by. We're in a bit of a valley, although you can't tell it from here, but many of the weather conditions pass on either side of us. The ones we get the most are the ones that circle the Great Lakes and stick around for either one whole day or several days in a row. Your weather sounds like our own.

@MarshaMusselman We are having a weird summer, some days it's almost cold and then we have a couple of hot and humid days. I cannot remember it was so humid in the past.

@LadyDuck A lot of our weather is much the same as yours. It's odd since it cools down enough at night to almost not need an fans running, but then gets extremely hot or humid come daytime.

Haven't checked but it has been mostly nice. I'm trying to do my utmost to take advantage of it all while I can. The Canadian Maritimes are often dreary and wet.

I think you know that we don't get the extreme temperatures that you do, and I very happy about that. i don't really take a lot of notice of the weather forecast, as they are often wrong. I hope that you aren't too uncomfortable this weekend.

I'm beginning the midnight shift for the next week again other than next Friday when I have an afternoon shift. I'm hoping I'll be able to get my normal sleeping in during the morning so I can do windows a bit in the afternoon before sleeping again. If it gets too hot here in the day we can always go elsewhere where there is air, like the library which has been suggested by some. I'm not bothered by the heat as much as others in my family. Also, we're planning on visiting several different types of stores to get estimates for new carpet or flooring. We've already pulled up a large portion of our carpet for now, but would need to refinish it if we don't get a replacement. My deductible is one grand, so the estimates would have to be quite a bit higher to do us much good.

" other days when the temps are expected to reach into the nineties, the humidity would be considerably lower. I" A lot of things add to humidity--we get evening showers and your glasses fog up when you go out--we get showers in the morning the same thing doesn't happen--and honestly--whether it si 90 or 100 it is HOT!

I've no idea of all the reasons that cause the humidity to be hot or not, but we are surrounded by five great lakes, and I'm sure that has something to do with it here in Michigan. We've had some cooler mornings where it seemed like we got rain although we didn't and it's not rare that the humidity is quite high early in the mornings. Al least the actual temps aren't quite so hot then. It's almost as if the humidity on those particular mornings is what is wetting the grounds. Even the mid-eighties is quite hot around here unless there is no humidity, but that doesn't happen very often.

There is nothing wrong in believing what we hear. sometimes and in some cases. like Weather forecasting. Shouldn't we believe them?

Do you get much of the weather forecast in your country? Around here, it's not always as they say, in fact, most of the time its' quite a bit different. But, I think they do the best they can and we'd have no idea whatsoever if we never had forecasts to begin with. Certain things that we hear are okay to believe outright, but most people need to be tested first. If we don't know them personally, we won't know whether they tend to exaggerate or not. Because I've been passing on misinformation that I've heard others that heard me will wonder whether I really know, or at least they could wonder.
