Is Having to be Politically Correct- Anti-Free Speech? If so Does Trump Deserve a Pass?

Is being PC hurting Americans to the point where remaining silent is safer than speaking your mind? America is a country that features freedom of expression, but is political correctness stopping our right from being who we really are? If the media is free to smear politicians, why shouldn't they be able to talk freely? By giving Trump a pass, I don't mean voting for him as much as let him say what he wants to say. If everyone is freaking out over him not being PC, they are apt to lose the full meaning of his message and strip him of his freedom of speech.
