Hey all, hope everyone has had a good weekend.
I am pretty excited, as I will be travelling to England, with my parents, for a week from July 30th to August 6th! We will mostly just be staying around London, but I know we will also see a few other things.. Don't remember everything planned, but I do know we are going to the city (or town..?) of Bath and Stonehenge and maybe a few other places outside of London.
Anyways, I also know there are lots of English people here on MyLot. If any of you can kindly give any tips/advice about things to do in and around London in particular, or other places in England too, that would be much appreciated, thanks so much :)

OH well done you will have a fab time. One thing be very careful of your wallet. There are lots of pickpockets about especially in London. Don't be fooled into doing any of those magic cup games these rogues do where they say you can win £20 by choosing which cup the dice or ball is under. Another warning do not get onto one of those rickshaw taxis they are dangerous and they will rip you off big time.
Best places to visit in London This is a fairly good itinerary but quite a lot of walking,
Start by going on the London Eye. A massive Ferris wheel opposite the houses of Parliament.
Walk over the bridge to The houses of parliament. Walk on to see Westminster abbey
Walk up Whitehall you will see Downing street where the Prime Minister lives,.
Go to Horse guards parade walk through there and to St. James Park up to Buckingham Palace.
To the right of Buckingham Palace there is Green park.Walk across that and you are in Piccadilly
Walk down to Piccadilly circus carry on to Leicester Square. Turn left in Wardour street.
Turn right into China Town
Carry on through and walk down Charing Cross road to Trafalgar Square.
Left of Trafalgar square walk along to Covent Garden which is quite fun and quite Bohemian.
Another day
Visit the Tower of London which is hundreds of years old. You will also see the crown jewels here Guarded by Beefeaters the Yeoman of the guards. Look at Tower Bridge and then walk along to St, Pauls cathedral.
All the museums are free in London. The British museum The Natural history museum are great.
The National gallery in Trafalgar square is great too.
Bath is a beautiful city. Make sure you go into the Roman baths they are great and also the Abbey in Bath is beautiful. You will probably visit Stonehenge on the way to Bath or on the way back. Another nice place to visit is Oxford or a day trip from London to Brighton. While you are in Brighton visit the Royal Pavillion which looks like an Indian palace.
If you have time it is worthwhile going to Windsor Castle.
You might get some useful ideas if you check out visit london website,
Have fun and enjoy your trip

@garymarsh6 Oh, I'm sure I will have a wonderful time :) Also, I do not doubt that there is a ton to do, I bet a week is not even quite enough to do all that I am set out to want to do there, but I am gracious to be going, at all!

I think you are better off checking out the forums in travel site, or visit Lonely Planet.
if you have time, you might as well go to the library and check out a few travel books.
London is a place where millions visit year after year, you will have no problem finding information.

Lucky you. You could spend a month in London and still see all there is to see.
