Here's a new series of discussions -- run songs! No, not songs about running, but songs with "run" in their title. It's too hot to run just about anywhere except a nice, air conditioned gym, so stay inside and listen to people sing songs with the word "run" in the title!
#10: Long May You Run - Stills-Young Band
Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young were almost like a game of Yahtzee: roll the dice and you have no idea what combination is going to come out! The most popular conglomeration was Crosby, Stills, and Nash; however, they've all released solo albums (I guess Young actually has the most popular solo career). Crosby and Nash put out four albums together (rumor is they can't stand each other now). In contrast, Stills and Young, who had been in Buffalo Springfield together, only put out one album as a duo, 1976's Long May You Run. This came out right after Crosby & Nash's Whistling Down the Wire and not too long before the immensely popular CSN album. Programs, get your programs here, you can't tell who's Crosby, Stills, Nash, or Young without your program!
This terrific title song from the album, with lead vocals by Neil Young, is about Young's old car (which, believe it or not, was a hearse), which he was driving when he met Stills in the mid-60s. That is references in the chorus, "With your chrome heart shining in the sun" and the little joke about "trunks of memories still to come."
And hey, it references the Beach Boys' "Caroline, No!"

This will be a fun one. I guess Dion's Runaround Sue is disqualified. I suppose Springsteen's (groan) Born to Run. Run to You by Whitney. You got me guessing!

Good idea. I never would have thought of this. I do have a pretty cool one lined up, though. By the way, I had the CSN album on vinyl. Great record.
