Do you think that a guy and girl can be just friends?

I have been involved in numerous discussions about this topic.
Some persons believe that two persons of the opposite sex cannot simply enjoy a platonic friendship, some amount of romance was there, is there or will be there.
What do yo think?
Do you have a member of the opposite sex share just a platonic friendship?

I have a lot of friends that are guys and some of them have proven to be better friends then girls. They are simply platonic nothing else. I believe it can be done. Of course sometimes some of the best relationships start out with two people just being friends. My husband and I were friends for years before we started dating and 17 years later he is still my best friend. I think it all really depends on the people involved and their respect for one another!

Well this is just a perception. It all depends on the culture we are brought up. there are good boy-girl friends, who just share a platonic relationship, and few are friends but would like to share their beds even, but not marry and have children. Marriage is another component, where you feel you need to settle with one person who is the one who will share his/her life with you for life...this is a topic which can bring in lot of different views and opinions from different countries and culture. a very highly debatable topic.

O, yeah! My ex-girlfriend and I (both of us are married) are having fun with our platonic friendship. We chat (facebook) . . . I make her laugh all the time. Sometimes we chat about our past thrilling moments . . . and as always she's caring and benevolent. - - She gifted me this laptop on my birthday last year. She lives in the east coast and I in the west coast - - far from each other.

That is very impossible for two persons in love. they will surely go beyond their desire.

Maybe a male and female can be friends but I suspect there will be feelings on one side or the other.
I've had female friends but to be honest I've slept with many of them and those that I haven't have wanted to sleep with me or are lesbians.
And a few I've wanted to sleep with have not wanted to sleep with meWTF...they are the ones with mental issues

Of course that can dear fellow! I had a friend when back in the days when i used to serve the army, she was a girl! We never thought about something more in our relationship, in our 5 years of friendship, as for me. I don't know for her, but by her behavior i shall assure you my friend that she was thinking the same.

I definitely think people can have a platonic relationship. I have plenty of guy friends I am not romantically interested in in the least.

yes, but if no then the guy would be sexually attracted to the female. I think a female can see a male as a friend but it would be the guy that will cause "problems"

I do. However, the older one gets, I have found (at least from a girl's perspective)...the guys don't want to be just friends; they want something more.
